A Slice of Life (or Cake)

Last weekend we did the combined April birthdays celebration.  Not shown in the photos below is my eldest – he of the crazy antics, outrageous utterances and the goofiest of faces.  He’s currently reluctant to have these talents displayed on the Internet - even frowned upon learning his picture had been put on Facebook.  (A picture of him underwater, wearing a diving mask and completely unrecognizable.)

Although not visible, he is responsible for evoking the laughter in these pictures.

son # 3 is not crying – I think he’d just snorted with laughter

son # 2 is no slouch in the crazy antics department, either
(not sure what I was doing with my finger – interesting gestures a camera captures)

Are there people in your life who can turn the negatives upside-down (or right-side-up) and make you laugh and smile?  Or who make you laugh and smile for no particular reason at all or for the most ridiculous of reasons?  I hope so.  They certainly exist in mine.

Beth: Thanks for saying such nice things about Patricia's and my book! Very flattering that you intend to use it as your guide when and if you make the "momentous decision" go grow up. But based on your blog, I hope you never do. The world of kids needs you!

Monte:
Thanks – I’m a WIP – who knows how I’ll end up? ;)
Such a wonderful book – great concept.

i could use more such people in my life, you know, those who can turn negatives upside-down ! but i'm grateful for all who are here with me now.

Wonderful photos. I just spent the weekend with my favourite people celebrating my Mum's 70th - 3 kids, 7 grandkids, 3 spouses, 1 aunt, 1 uncle, 3 dogs and 1 trip to Emerg made for a non-stop weekend with the people who I laugh more with than anyone else.

That's the best mother-and-sons act I've seen since the Partridge family.

Jaya J:
Just son #2 and 3# have April birthdays. (I only bake one cake now…)
You don’t need a great number of such people – just cherish those you have.

Cid:
Isn’t it wonderful when family are friends, too? Love and laughter…
Glad to hear your Mom’s 70th was a success - even with a trip to the ER…

GB:
You should hear us sing!

Sherry:
Such a joy having kids you can laugh and talk with – as you know.

Saving some funny faces just for you… ;)

You have a really cool family, but I can hardly believe these two huge guys came from you :-D

They are very cute though ;-)

My two sons make me laugh too. I love it when the three of us are together

Zhu:
Well, they weren’t so huge when I had them!

nursemyra:
Makes you feel you did something right – and wonderful – as a mother when everyone remains so close. And, oh, that laughter is a delight!

grats, all!

as for my own humor sources... all in their 20s, gone... but we still crack each other up when we get together...

I wonder if a sense of humour is hereditary? And if some families gather together and are solemn and serious? (Or worse…)
I quite prefer my lot!

These pictures make me smile, Beth. You're a silly, fun crew.

Whenever I'm down, or not down, my nephew's face (photo) or voice (over the phone) lift me to new heights. It is a blessing, isn't it?

Be well.

I think humor is a combo of nature/nurture. My brothers and I aren't related biologically, but we're all a bunch of lunatics! LOL

Love the pics!

Apparently I am the goofball / entertainer in my family, according to all of my... family. Siblings, nieces and nephews etc., are all convinced that I have cerebrally-challenging issues that make for a really good time -- most of the time.
One of my specialties is mimicry of other relatives that are either deceased or otherwise not present at the time.
