My Eventful Day

Some bloggers write a chatty post about what they did on any given day. I’m going to change it up a bit and list all the things I meant to do yesterday but never got around to.

(How boring is this going to be? Read on and see…)

1. Didn’t go to the bank and deposit the (measly) cheque from a publisher. (I’m waiting to make the trip worthwhile.)

2. Didn’t call the repairman to set a date for the front flagstone path repair. (There’s never going to be a good time for this. I am simply delaying the inevitable.)

3. Did not get rid of the dead petunia plant by the front steps. (Died of neglect in a my absence. Thanks, boys.)

4. Did not empty and move the bookcase for the painter who arrives today to repair the water damaged ceilings. (What if it really doesn’t need to be moved? All that wasted effort on my part.)

5. Did not photocopy my driver’s license to send to the accountant for some obscure tax reason. (I forgot.)

With a great imagination, this list could be endless…did not fly to China to see the Olympics, did not ride in a hot air balloon, did not go surfing, did not drive a bus…

Of course, my Did Not Do List begs the question – what did I do yesterday other than perform great feats of procrastination? I won’t bore you with the details, but trust me, whatever I did was better than what I was supposed to be doing.

But I guess you can figure out what I’m doing today.

Fnatastic idea, the procrastinators post...I ddin't book a pap test, I didn't cook dinner (pizza), I didn't call the roofer, I didn't ask about the boat shipper.....

yes, there are LOTS of things I could have & should have done yesterday...but I didn't. ...and I may not get to those same things today.

Hey, look on the bright side. You didn't murder anyone.

oreneta:
These kind of lists can actually end up lengthier than the "I GOT DONE" lists.

lainey-paney:
There will always be things that can be put off - and I do this so very well.

guy:
Yet. ;)

If I go to listing the things I should have done but did not my posts will take forever to read. You're much more with it than me.

Vacation did you GOOD girl...you are renewed and revitalized...even if you are procrastinating...gawd, if that was MY to do list I'd not have done it either!!!! I hope you had a thoroughly lovely day yesterday doing better things than that...and hey...your reasoning makes PERFECT sense to me!!! We could all do with "not to do" lists to balance out our lives!!!!

travis:
My list of neglected chores was actually far longer - I was just too embarrassed to note them all.

sherry:
I'm definitely "renewed" after my vacation - not so sure it's in an entirely positive way!

cheri:
They're pretty common around here. (But then, so are those accursed TO DO lists.)

How about a "Do NOT do list"?

1.) Do NOT use the frying pan as a weapon to Hubby's smart comment.

2.) Do NOT go over the budget with the next shopping trip.

3.) Do NOT hang up the phone the next time you get a telemarketer, just put the phone down until they hang up.

4) Do NOT forget to pamper yourself. At least 10 times a day.

5.) Do NOT say no to chocolate.

I know what you did yesterday. You talked me down from a ledge! That's what you did! And, today was better for me b/c of you! : )

I like this idea of putting together a To Procrastinate list. I know I could accomplish it and feel happy about meeting my goals. Good for you! Worthy of a celebration!
XOXOX

shari:
Wonderful idea but we should only accentuate the positives - like # 4 & 5!

la la:
So glad to hear the day was better.
(We all have ledges - some days they just seem so much higher than other days.)

eileen:
For all goal oriented people (such as ourselves) listing our "procrastinations" makes so much sense! ;)

I'm pretty sure that "seize the day" was never meant to refer to photocopying licenses or moving bookshelves! I hope you DID do something more pleasurable.

I just like writing lists!!!

I didn't build a time machine today so that I could go back to yesterday and not do those things again...

Being a day later, I'm curious what you haven't done on THursday and if any of your postponed items from Wednesday got done today. This could snowball terribly until there is no recovering.

I noticed you filed this post as "mundane." I thought it was funny, so it could easily be filed as "humor." : )

Yes: today you are blogging. :o)

You DIDN'T drive a bus? You clearly did not live that particular day. I think that you should make it a point to go find a bus and drive it.

This is brilliant! I could add so much to that 'did not do' list...but I won't! How's that for accomplishing something? Heh. It would be far too embarrassing.

But I'll tell you what I DID do...

DID enjoy the company of loved ones. DID look at an amazingly beautiful sky at dusk. DID play a wicked game of Whist. DID cook (and eat) a delicious roast chicken. DID fall asleep while watching 'Total Recall'. DID thoroughly enjoy the day.

Very fun! I'll play:

While I'm writing this I have not:

sent my child's medical report for school to the doctor

labeled my daughter's school supplies

ordered a new hood for the stroller

called Miho

called Ruthanne

Yay me!

I don't have a "To Do" list; Instead, I have a "Honey Do" List. I'm not sure I'd want my wife to give me a "Honey Do Not Do" list. Besides, there's more fishing that needs to be done.

LOL!!! Girl, there are so many things I MEANT to do but never got around to it....oh well.

Let's just get together and talk and drink a bottle of wine! ;)

My list would be endless with just the things I should have done. Most importantly, "Clean my room! Dammit!" (I was in your lovely country last week)
