Verbs
“This is my living faith, an active faith, a faith of verbs: to question, explore, experiment, experience, walk, run, dance, play, eat, love, learn, dare, taste, touch, smell, listen, argue, speak, write, read, draw, provoke, emote, scream, sin, repent, cry, kneel, pray, bow, rise, stand, look, laugh, cajole, create, confront, confound, walk back, walk forward, circle, hide and seek.
To seek: to embrace the questions, be wary of answers."
Terry Tempest Williams – Leap
I find the idea of a living, active faith - one of verbs – very appealing. And it shouldn’t be difficult to follow. It’s simply being alive.
The challenge is in being aware – in being conscious of and celebrating these moments.
I do them all. (Oh, yes, I scream, sin, argue and confront.) But I must take the time to recognize that each of these verbs is a blessing and a privilege. It’s just that you get so caught up in life itself, you tend to forget to appreciate the actual living of it.
So, I’m pausing right now as I write, question and learn.
And I’m hungry so I’m going to eat, taste and appreciate the experience.
And when I laugh today (and I will) I’ll appreciate that, too.
As for loving? I can pause at any time and experience that one.
(Zig – As you “do” all these verbs, look for the joy. It’s there. And so are we – always.)

I have been thinking a lot about these important verbs-good post, Beth. To the point.
Exceptionally excellent post today ♥
As the others said..great post!!:)
I try to live in the moment and enjoy each day. :)
I really, really like this post - it is SO hard to remember sometimes that there is more to the day than a shower and a job. This is one of those postings I will print and look at often. Thank you so much!
Yes so true!
Living is a verb and I try and experience that way as much as I can - to be active rather than passive.
so profound!!!!
I like living a life of verbs....makes life so much more interesting...
I loved this post. I never looked at life in these terms, but living a life of verbs and being tuned into it, is the way to be. I didn't get far in E. Tolle, but I did get to "just be." I think it was in the first few pages, that is about as far as I got, but I thought just being, and when your mind goes some place else, just try to say be, be, be. Be in the present and enjoy. Not a bad place to be. Sorry for the run on's..I am flying tonight sue to my headache. I don't want to just be tonight. I guess I need to keep reading his book. BUT, I do love this post. That I know for sure.
XOXO
Beth:
What a super posting!
I really liked this part: To seek: to embrace the questions, be wary of answers."
I would add one more very important [to me] verb, with regards to 'faith".
It would be the word, "displace".
As in.... when it comes to faith issues, maintaining a willingness to displace less tenable ideas [beliefs] for more tenable [believable, even logical] ones.
I believe in a type of "logical"-oriented faith.
cip:
I've been "displacing" faith issues/beliefs for years - but have never lost my faith.
