Travel

On the cottage deck.
March 29, 2008

France, Halifax, North Carolina, Belize, Guatemala, Toronto, New York… The list goes on. So many bloggers are traveling these days.

And it just so happens I’m going to take a little vacation of my own. I’m heading to the cottage later today.

Perhaps I should set my sights higher, travel to parts unknown, do the tourist thing, learn about other cultures (first hand rather than via books) and broaden my horizons. Hopefully, some day I will.

But right now, I’m simply craving some quality time at the cottage – family and friends, love and laughter.

Saturday night? We’ll be celebrating the engagement of my nephew and niece-to-be. A first in our family.

How can seeing the Eiffel Tower compare to that?

And I’ll bet there are no black flies in Paris. They don’t know what they’re missing.

I have been having cottage dreams lately...I love a cottage...ohhhhh, have such a good time. Hey, for a Parisienne, it would be a cultural epiphany...think of it that way!

I love our cottage on the Bay more than anything. Pure bliss, even with jelly fish.

I hope you have a wonderful time!

La la la...to the cottage she goes!!! You will have a fabo time up there -- keep away from the black flies or carry some heavy duty deet!!! Have fun, relax, have a few fine drinks -- wine, ritas, cosmos, shooters -- whatever strikes your fancy!!!

on behalf on your nephew and soon to be niece, thanks for preferring their company (and mine!) to Parisiennes and the Tower!

See you in a little while! We both deserve this summer so much. I read that the less you look for happiness the better chance it will find you - through family, friends, your work, helping others etc. I'm going to try that this time!

You still have black flies at this time of the year? I thought that the mosquitoes would have overtaken them by this time. LOL
Hope you have a lovely time.
So just where is your cottage? I t must be quite far up north.

A cottage would be nice. Very nice. Alas, I'm stuck in my boring old house.

Oh well. Have fun!

Black flies? Aren't most flies black? Or am I missing something?

I can relate, I am sooooo looking forward to the one weekend away this summer at my friend's parent's cabin. It's a nice tradition and the one time us friends all get to get away.

Have a good time. No matter what, a family retreat is best, bar none. I'd love to see Ireland, though. :)

Next week we will be off for a week in MN. Leaving Sat.

Shoo fly, go away...

You are so right about that! The cottage has a regenerative effect that can't be found anywhere else. Pine trees, water, fresh air, silence - aaahhhh

Have a great time

Actually, I got bit by a black fly that seemed to follow me into the room we're renting. I now have a big red bite on the top of my foot. So there - there are crappy bugs in France too!
