Of Breast and Blogs

This month I had my annual mammogram – the old flatten them into pancakes routine.

(Ladies – remember your monthly BSE and to book that mammogram appointment. And check out this link re: the benefits of taking Vitamin D.)

New machines had been installed and rather than x-ray films, the results now appear on a computer screen.

Upon hearing this bit of news, my ears (yes, my ears – nothing else) perked up.

I turned to the technician (and in doing so, slightly disturbed her perfect placement of one of my bosom buddies) and asked, “Hey, could you email me the images so I can post them on my blog?”

We both laughed.

I was just kidding. Sort of. The images were fascinating.

Have I no shame? Are there no limits to what I will consider using as blog fodder?

(I actually do have limits. The above (amazing) digital images are not of my breasts.)

HA! When you said that, I thought the very same thing!!! and I was thinking what nice full breasts you have and such perky nipples!!!

I haven't had my boobs smashed in a while...I should probably go do that...

Aww, come one. You don't go and promise breast x-rays and not follow through. I am only mildly disappointed.

I was thinking of blogging about a pimple. I think both of us need to re-evaluate blog fodder. lol.

beth:
Go get smashed, kiddo - and not from a bottle!
And the only thing perky that day were my ears...

sornie:
You might have been (mildly) disappointed if I'd followed through.

charlotta-love:
Go ahead and blog about a pimple - you already made me laugh just mentioning the possibility.
(And you certainly have the ability to make it into a funny post.)

cheri:
Glad I could provide a morning laugh via my breasts!

Better technology means better results, faster results...it's not the most comfortable test to have but by gosh, where would we be without it? My lump was not detected by a manual bse -- it was a mammogram that nabbed mine. Thank God. xo

Oh, what they can do with technology! And bummer, I was disappointed, too! JK!

It's time for me to go again. The year sure goes by FAST. It seems like I was just there getting smashed and mushed into that MACHINE!

It's also good to get an ultrasound regularly!

Thanks for the reminder to schedule my appointment.

And I heartily second your, "Thank God."

guy:
Oh, yeah!
(You know I'd never...)

It's uncomfortable but it never really hurts me. (Which may reveal something about my breast size.)
And do check out that Vitamin D link. What an amazing vitamin that is turning out to be.

Damn, walked right into a mamogram post withotu knowing it...let's see if I can sneak out without anyone noticing me...

Whew -- I'm glad to hear that they're not yours because what's that thing on the right? Scary!

I'd totally post my mammogram. I have no shame. Well...I DO have limits. I probably wouldn't post a full-frontal-nudity shot of my bare breasts....
..........at least not on my blog!
hahahahaha

Too late - you were caught. Gotta work on those sneaking skills.

angela:
I noticed that, too. I'm hoping it is simply a fatty cyst. (My results were fine.)

lainey-painey:
I'm going to be watching for those mammogram results of yours!

I feel like I've crashed head first into a womans magazine. At speed.

I was going to josh you about being cold, but if those aren't your jugs there is just no fun to be had. :P

amc:
Ah, but did you enjoy the landing?
(Or are you concussed?)

memarie lane:
I'm thinking the temperature in that room has no bearing on how those "jug" images turn out...

Somehow I didn't think you would actually post pics of your own squashed melons on your blog...I'm not sure I would, either! Those photos are some mighty fine specimens, I must say, though!

Actually, you just reminded me of something...when I was 36 I found a lump in my breast...long story short, it was benign, but I had it removed anyway. After the surgery my boob was cover in some icky yellow stuff, and to get rid of it, a nurse put a piece of paper on top of my boob, and then pealed it off. It ended up creating a kinda neat yellow/gold print of my breast in all it's glory. So I kept it, and hung it on the back door of my studio in our old apartment. I had it there for many years, until about three years ago one of our cats got accidentally locked in my studio, and she went nuts scratching on the door, and ripped my boob to shreds.

Anyway, good for you, for getting your boobs squished! Hope it was fun!

I'm not disappointed at all. I have no need to see someone's mammogram. None whatsoever. Glad that you got one, though.

That experience would have given you a scare.
And trust you to turn the experience into a work of art. (Damn cats...)

dorky dad:
I'm glad I did, too. I wish more women did.

My first thought was those were your breasts and I was amazed at how open you were about sharing....

I am glad you went and had the mamogram. At my last mamogram, I was really impressed with the new technology too. It is so much better.

XOXOXO

This is the first time I've seen a picture of a breast and imagined more stuff covering it.

Something to look forward to. Ugh. I keep hearing that a MAN invented the Mammogram. Should be Mannogram.
