Vacation Over

I’m home.

And if I were a tattle-tale, I would have great tales to tattle about.

If I were a less private individual, I would spill my guts on this blog.

If I were the kind of person who didn’t care about boring people to tears, I would write whatever I damn well felt like.

And if I were the kind of mother who didn’t care about her kids, I would do a rant.

I am none of the above.

Bottom line, I did not get the rest and relaxation I was hoping for at the cottage.

Damn my naive, trusting soul – I was blindsided (yet again) while away.

I would like to say it will never happen again but I’m wary - of my own nature and of things to come.

Do they actually sell suits of armor these days? I think I need one.

Having got that off my chest (such as it is) I did have a great time despite minimal R&R and the unexpected stress - lots of family and friends and my kids came whenever they could.

Sightings re: creatures of the wild – woodpeckers, ducks, two garter snakes (ugh), mice (dead bodies only) and my very favourite – loons. I love hearing the cries of the loons at the cottage.

Creatures I did not see (thank God) - the snapping turtle (although it has been spotted), the otter or minx (how would I know the difference?) which occasionally swims nearby and BEARS. My youngest informed me there’s a bear hanging out at the camp nearby where he works. News I did not want to hear.

I didn’t take as many pictures as I would have liked but since you all begged, I’m posting one. It was taken from the cottage deck. (So far, I don’t think I’m going to be nominated for any photography awards.)

I’m a little pissed off that my vacation didn’t pan out as I’d hoped. Truth? I’m a lot pissed off. I was so looking forward to that week after recovering from surgery. Those other matters were not supposed to intrude.

Now I begin dealing with legal affairs – my next hurdle. Strange territory for me.

Remember my post about being nice? How beneath this nice exterior lies a tough do not underestimate or mess with me woman? I’m not too fond of that Beth but she’s going to have to come to the fore. I will try to keep her off this blog but she’s going to be a busy girl for the next while. Bear with me. Sometimes it’s difficult to come up with cheery, newsy posts while not-so-nice things are going on in your life. On the other hand, sometimes it’s a great distraction trying to think of happy things.

And it’s always great reading other blogs – especially now that I’m back with an Internet connection that does not cut out or take forever to load a page!

P.S.
I just re-read this post. It’s kind of meandering….all over the place…too long…
My apologies. You’ve just caught a glimpse of the state of my mind.

Sorry the vacation wasn't stress-free. Hope you had some time to relax and get strong for the 'next phase'.

I am glad you're back! Go get 'em, girl!

Sorry to hear that things didn't work out the way you wanted them too. Hopefully you will find the rest and relaxation you need.

It's always nice to be out in the woods and on the water and if there are loons calling then all the better.

I am so sorry to hear that you've been blindsided after all you have been through already. Don't worry about unloading right here on this blog...that is what it's here for. Let us readers give you some comfort and support while your evil twin goes to work on the perpetrators of your unhappiness.

Another Arse situation huh.

Although a good meander does hurt.

We had a snake get into our house one time. That was neat.

Good to have you back. :)

Definitely stronger (and I'm still kinda nice.)

Ah, life throws curves. I'll get some R&R - for sure - sometime.

Comfort and support from blog friends has come to mean a lot to me.
(I don't really like my evil twin...)

anonymous:
For sure, buddy - it's "arse."

A snake in the house was neat?? That's such a guy thing...
Happy to be back!

well, it totaly sucks that your vacation wasn't what you wanted/expected it to be. sucks big time. And as the "mom" I think it's always going to be that way....sad to say.

But you're back now and things will get back to some sort of "normal" whatever you call normal.....

I'm glad you're home

Beth,
I am so glad you are back!!! You were missed. Very sorry you did not get the rest and relaxation that you hoped, but enjoyed hearing about your adventures! The snakes, bears and snapping turtles would have freaked me out a bit, but I am pretty much a chicken when it comes down to the "real outdoors." The loons sounded lovely.
Looking forward to hearing from you, no matter what type of post.
Take care of yourself. Really. XO

Beth, glad your back on line, and I am SO sorry that your break didn't work out. Hang tough and do what you've got to do...we missed you, and blog what you need and want. Glad to hear from you again.

Thank God you're back!

I usually need a vacation from my vacation -- especially if that vacation involves visiting other family members in any form. Indeed, I hardly count it as vacation.

And I think you have every right to be not very nice, given what you're dealing with these days.

"A vacation from my vacation."
I like the sound of that. I think that's what I'm doing now. (Sort of.)

Well, even though that particular hope didn't pan out, I still have lots more!

It's never easy on vacation with family. Myself, I could never go longer than three or four days on vacation with others. In fact, I haven't done a vacation in years. I hope you're able to work things out and still have peace of mind.

Glad to see you were able to go out to the cabin even with all that is happening in your life. But Sorry to hear it wasn't as stress free as you had hoped.

I'm actually becoming quite adept at living with stress. Amazing.
