Here She Goes Again...

This is a difficult post to write.

It’s almost as if I’m embarrassed or feel apologetic about the necessity of having to write it. And I shouldn’t be. Not at all.

But, oh my God, folks, I’m taking another break.

(That makes how many? I'm not counting.)

Let’s just say life has thrown me some curves lately.

(And I’m relating to the biblical story of Job in a whole new way.)

So, here’s the reason for the latest break. I’m having surgery this week. I do not have cancer or any life-threatening illness — but it is necessary. I was on a cancellation list as of January and got the call last month.

The timing could have been better in terms of other matters going on but there’s no way I could (or should) put off having this surgery.

So, I’ve been coping with a double whammy. Dealing with the one matter while anticipating the other has been — to put it mildly — somewhat stressful. I’ve been trying very hard to stay strong, healthy and in a good frame of mind for the second “whammy.”

I think I’m succeeding — with the help of family and friends.

Apparently the recovery time may take awhile (days? a week?) and my “energy level” may be low for another few weeks. I’m kind of wondering how my energy level can get much lower. Well, that’s not entirely true. As I mentioned, I’ve been making a concerted effort to stay focused and strong. I can do this.

The upshot of this rambling post is that I don’t know when I will be back. My breaks have been notoriously short but I’m not banking on that this time.

But I do plan to be back. Most definitely.

Oh Beth, it's all just so not fair. I can't believe the curves life throws at us sometimes to test our fortitude. Don't you just feel like screaming "ENOUGH ALREADY"!!

It sounds like you have solid support for the coming weeks and this is the time to lean on the people who care about you.

I'll be thinking of you and wishing you strength and a speedy recovery.

Take as long as you need, kiddo. And goodness knows, you need a break! (Though not like this, mind you!)

We'll all be here when you get back, ready to cheer you on...

To ALL:
A big thank you.

trish:
I have said "Enough already!" Haven't screamed it yet, though.
And I do have so many wonderful people who care.

patricia:
Yes, a break from a break like this would be nice.
And start cheering now!

guy:
I don't know what a WiFi is! (Whine.) Only in the hospital one or two nights. Modern health care - you go home - ready or not.

rebecca:
Yup, I'm coming back.
You'd better be here!

beth:
Thanks for your sweet, kind words.
(And there better not be any more crap for awhile. I think I'm getting someone else's share...)

oreneta:
You sound as overwhelmed in your comment as I sometimes feel. But if you saw me and could talk to me, you'd know I can handle this. (With lots of help.)

mamma:
As a "mamma" you know how hard it is to put yourself first. I wish my kids didn't have to go through all this stuff, too.
But I know it's "me first" time.
Thanks for your kind wishes.

Beth, I hope everything is okay! Take care of yourself (I think someone recently gave me that advice) and get better. We want you back strong and healthy. You'll be in my prayers!

For what it's worth, I'm giving you a warm hug right now to get you through this. It's been very stressful for you lately. Take all the time you need. We'll be here when you get back. Hugs.

tracey:
We'll both take care of ourselves - strong and healthy is the goal.

It's worth a lot.
Thanks.

Speedy recovery. We'll watch our monitors hoping for a speedy return...

Surgery? That's just tough. On the bright side, surgeons these days are excellent at what they do. You'll be running marathons before you know it.

We'll be here. Good luck!

dj:
Yes, watch those monitors - we know my past "breaks" have been relatively short - hoping for the same this time.

dorky dad:
Well, that would be nothing short of a miracle! I don't run marathons now!

Hey Beth, a person has to do what a person has to do. Most bloggers are understanding. Good luck with the surgery.
