I was surfing the net. I started off looking up something very important (yes, it was) and ended up going from site to site to site. It happens. And sometimes when it happens, you find some gems. Such as….
This:
I love it. Of course I do. It has to do with books. And it delights me that I’ve read so many of the books appearing in this cloud. I so admire the creator’s taste in reading.
And this:
“The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.”
~ Ayn Rand
Which struck a nerve. I simply have to remind myself that the only barrier to my taking action of any kind is my own reluctance – my own oftentimes hesitant nature. And that can be overcome. This, I know.
And then there’s this:
“It’s impossible,” said Pride. “It’s risky,” said Experience. “It’s pointless,” said Reason. “Give it a try,” whispered the heart.
~ author unknown
I’m almost at the point of heeding the advice of that whisper. But I think the heart has to speak up just a bit louder in order to completely drown out the words of pride, experience and reason.
And that’s all there is, folks…

Those cloud things are so nifty - I'll have to grab one for my own ;)
Pride, Experience, and Reason are like overbearing relatives, I think. You have to tell them to quiet down once in a while so your Heart can get a word in edgewise. Now might be a good time . . .
Great cloud! Love the name too, the "consensus cloud". Gotta dig into that list... I just bought myself a ebook reader.
good stuff, beth :)
try: you may succeed, or get hurt... either way, you learn something... and that's what life's about. ~says i
The whispers which hold us back come from nowhere else other than from inside ourselves. Again, it's only of a question of who is going to stop you?
If you're thinking of going sky-diving, I think you should listen to Reason.
Love the anonymous whisperer.
Just forwarded your info. I'm REALLY excited for you (there's no age limit on excitement of any kind). I'll be posting your win shortly.

Trish:
Fear and shyness have started chattering since I posted this morning…
Zhu:
Let us know how you like it – blog about it. I am wavering…
LW:
Or, I could put it off for another day…life’s like that, too… ;)
Cid:
I am so familiar with that one particular person who stops me – she is so full of “what ifs?”
GB:
Close. Bungee-jumping off the CN Tower – and Fear has a word to say about that.
Robyn:
Might just remain anonymous for heaven knows how long…
Still excited! Thanks again.
Will you blog about it if you do take the leap?
nursemyra:
Probably – although don’t hold your breath. I also possess a very LOUD conscience.
LOL I love your taste in books!!! Hahahahaha . Your quotes (the quotes you quoted) are amaing xD
Lol, your blog always brings a sile to my face xD
Punk Chopsticks:
And that makes me smile! :)
Those quotes are inspiring, I love them! It is only ourselves that bind our ropes - it's easy to undo them if we want to - if we dare!
I have a rare rare rare RARE day off today, so look at that! I can even read your blog! I'm just about to head on down to my local Starbucks to read for half the day.... I love this cloud thing. As I peruse it, there are almost no books that I have NOT read...... so nice to see them arranged like that!
I wish you a great weekend, Beth.
Juliette:
The ties that bind – our own hearts and minds…
As a kid I took on so many dares – when did I become so cautious?
Cip:
I think you should make your own cloud and post it.
(Although you’ve read so many books, it might not fit on the page…)
Enjoy your day off!
yup!
nice quotes my friend
LW:
Yeah…at times procrastination can be a good thing if it involves giving a matter some very serious thought…
2Peeeps:
Rather universal in their appeal, right?
Sometimes the heart is yelling but pride, reason and particularly experience are stronger. Let's learn to say yes to the heart, shall we?
It's always good to get some encouraging words to keep pluggin' along. These are a few good thoughts to ponder.
Pride is the worst. It's like poison ivy. It has a cunning way of leading you to a dangerous path and before you know it, you're lost because you have become blind by then.
I recognize some books from the cloud, and I must say I read Wuthering Heights for like 6 or 7 times. Such a twisted and tragic tale.
The Bodhi Chicklet:
Let’s be gentle with ourselves – we will try our best to listen to and heed the advice of our hearts…
Jimmy Fungus:
I need to ponder and “plug” less and act more. ;)
Jaya J:
Oh, yeah – pride (fear of embarrassment, etc.) has kept me static in many an instance…but what’s the worst that could happen? Embarrassment doesn’t last forever…
I'm glad to see Hitchhiker's is up in that list. Loved that book.
And yep, my iron levels are normal. I eat way too much red meat anyways. :P
DWei:
Red meat - a far more palatable source of iron than liver or spinach.
(Yuk.)
Gabriel Garcia Marquez most definitely belongs in this cloud, probably twice; how about "Love in the Time of Cholera"?
As for "Hitchhikers ..." I think it's in the wrong cloud.
JR:
Perhaps Love in the Time of Cholera is hidden in there somewhere? My eyesight's not as good as it once was...;)
I'm glad I read these comments before completely plagiarizing DWei's comment. It'd be in the Hitchhiker style to show up in the wrong cloud and still make a go of it.
