Done

On Sunday I had what I shall refer to as an “I’m done” day.  Loosely translated, (because I’m still trying to figure out my use of that expression) I was in a foul mood.

A series of unfortunate events (thank you, Lemony Snicket) eventually had me finally and repeatedly muttering, “I’m done… I’m done…I’m done…”

Done with what?  Life?  My “mutters”  made it seem like I was about to off myself.  I am most definitely not that far gone.

The experience was reminiscent of a child’s temper tantrum – adult version.  (And, yes, I did have some whopper tantrums as a child.)

I refused to do any of the stupid chores around here, did not answer a call from an acquaintance whose misery is ongoing (although not fatal) and actually threw something on the floor – not something breakable because then I would have had to clean up the mess.  The list could go on but you get the drift.

Giving my tantrum and mutterings further thought, perhaps I was simply done with all responsibilities, sadness and frustrations having to with the people, places and things in my life.  I needed a time out – needed to temporarily abdicate my role as a mature adult.

A friend dropped by later in the day and patiently listened to my rant.  In the midst of my blah, blah, blah tirade, I paused and asked her, “But who was I talking to with all that muttering?”

“The voices in your head,” she replied with a grin.

Finally, the day and the friend brought laughter.  Because, yes, my behaviour was crazy, I’m a little crazy and life can get crazy.

Is there a point to this post?  Not particularly.

But, I’m done.   ;)

To put it simply I can reply to this with: "been there, DONE that"!! xo

I call those types of moody rants my 'Bitching Allowance'. It's a necessary part of maintaining one's sanity. Everyone should allow themselves such an outlet! And when I'm 'done' with something it usually means I have reached my Give-a-Damn capacity. Mutter away, I say! I don't see there's any harm in it.

Ahhh life ;) Fun, isn't it?

Ah, Beth, you were too much of a lady to holler a few cuss words! I hope you're feeling better after letting it out in your own way!

Been going through somewhat a similar phase myself. But it's cool now :p

Oh I can relate, some days I just don't want to do anything at all. Sometimes the routine or the chore are just too much and I need to reboot myself!

Sherry: And with good reason…you deserve more than just a day of “mutters” and tantrums.

Trish: Excellent definition of “done.”
As for life? It can be. :)

GB: “Oh, my goodness,” says the “lady.” “I’ve left you with the wrong impression.”
I swear like a trooper!

Jaya J: Glad it’s over and “done” with. Mine, too.

Zhu: I’ve rebooted – back in fighting, mature and loving form. :)

Cheri: Hope your time outs are as short-lived as mine – although I’ve been known to stretch them for longer than a day...

I find a square of chocolate and a glass of wine really helps

You are entitled to doneness whenever it surfaces. And we don't follow you for profound posts. Not that you aren't profound but we just love you.

I assume you know the feeling, too… ;)

LW :
Great song – great line - “I've always been crazy but it's kept me from going insane.”

Robyn:
My feeling good barometer just went up another few degrees!

I want to say, "I'm done" 'cause that's how I feel so much of the time. But done with what? My family? My life? Neither, I just would like a holiday from both for a while.

I like to think that we all get to that point sometimes, I know I do, so we're company for each other. Lovely when the sense of humour reasserts too....
