I have a well-deserved reputation for being a worrier and for possessing supposedly irrational fears. When my kids point out (sometimes kindly, sometimes with exasperation) how crazy some of these fears are and how crazy I am to have them, every once in a while I come back with:
“You should be in awe of me – imagine the courage and willpower it takes just to get through the day harbouring such fears and anticipating disaster!”
My reasoned argument & logic are met with exaggerated nods and eye-rolls.
Check out the pictures below. This horror occurred just down the street. Apparently the driver of the truck left the parking brake off. Fortunately, no one was injured.
I’ve added out-of-control garbage trucks crashing into my home to my list of potential disasters.

I'd be feeling pretty pleased with myself if I'd taken evasive action to avoid that lorry. Maybe you should try something like that to master your fears.
Seriously? Wow, holy crap! Glad there were no victims!
How can you lose control of a truck that is supposed to go very slow in the first place? In a residential neighbourhood?
I'm adding garbage trucks to my list of worries.
Oh, and my post today is unrelated :-D
Where were the guys???? They aren't supposed to be off doing something else are they?
Weird.
All I can say is, good thing this driver is not an airline pilot!
Looks like the Sanitation Department in your area is really emphasizing the "Three R's" this year:
REDUCE
RECYCLE
and
REVERSE!
ROFL!!! This city has a lot to explain...and these guys wonder why City Hall talks about privatization??? I'll remember to say "indoors" when I see the trucks on their rounds here from now on!!
That's a very good piece of parking if you ask me!
look at it this way, it's NOT delivering furnace oil! :P lol
Even worse if there was a bear driving that truck...
It does look like it could've been a lot worse. I understand the worrier thing, though - as I peer out window to assure there's no huge truck about to plough into this residence.
xoRobyn
That is the stuff of nightmares!
Holy cow!!! The world is truly a frightening place!
It could be worse, or should I say: my greatest fear would be that I'd remain loyal to my waste removal employer by standing on the back of the truck while my partner supposedly parked it.
glad no one was hurt
Yes, I do this too. I worry about the unlikely. Can't help it. And you're so right---people should be in awe of us.
Mother of the Groom!?
{I just got caught up}
Congrats & Oh My! I can't imagine. I just can't imagine what that's like....
Holy Cow! I, too, suffer from irrational overactive imaginary disasters befalling me. But a garbage truck smashing into my house? I guess I will have to add that one to my own personal list having the visuals to now back it up.
