M.D. to Be...

So much pride, joy and happiness here yesterday as we celebrated the accomplishment of my youngest son – the “baby” brother.

He was accepted into medical school!!

There were also many, many phone calls, hugs, laughter, teasing (from the big brothers), toasts made, wine and champagne consumed and premature requests for prescription drugs.

And, oh, yeah, tears. Mine. That’s what mothers do.

mother and son

(It’s taken me all day to clue in, but I think I have a bit of a hangover. Can’t remember when I last had one. Could it have been the champagne? And is it only 6:00 p.m.?)

Yippee! Yappie! Yahoo-y! Oh, it's a long road ahead but the first hurdle has been cleared. This must be something he really wants, I am thrilled for both of you. At least you know you will have someone to look after you in your dotage! ha! ha!

Wow, you must be so proud!

Okay, I'm putting down my name, I still need some kind of doctor, GP or anything - and as you know, waiting list blahblah. No, I don't care if he is a student! :-D

Are you sure he wouldn't rather be a convict teacher? We have a high turnover rate.

Congrats are in order. You have a right to be proud.

Then again, it could be the 'flu. Pity you'll have to wait several years before your son can confirm the diagnosis.

There's nothing so charming as a proud and tearful mother. I wish I was there to dry your tears.

That is AMAZING! You have much to be proud of. You'll always be able to say, "Yes," when anyone asks if there's a doctor in the house.
CONGRATULATIONS!

medical school sounds very exciting. until you have to pay for it.
if he is anything like you (caring-wise), he's going to be a great doctor.
congrats to both of you!

i dissected a worm for a class in high school. that killed any ambition of mine to be a doctor.

Congratulations.
What a fine looking lad.
I would be entirely confident were he to want to yank out my appendix or whatnot.

I love how you are peeking over his shoulder . . . and I bet you are standing on your tippy-toes too ;) Sons grow up so quickly don't they?

Congratulations to both of you.

Congratulations Youngest! Beth, this means you have raised a Doctor (or future Doctor). Not all moms can say that. Congratulations!
