S.P.E.L.L.I.N.G.

Ha! You have to laugh! Well, you don’t, but I did.

After a lifetime spent correcting the spelling of my given name* - “That’s Elisabeth with an ‘s’…” - I got both the ‘s’ AND the ‘z’ with this bill!

Now the ‘a’ is missing!

What next? No vowels?

“Attention: Lszbth Stewart…”

I have mellowed. If the misspelling makes me laugh, bring it on.

*usually to no avail – I have official documents to prove it

The S and Z look good next to each other. They're like two Polish lesbians checking each other out.

I guess vowels aren't as important as most people think.

No use sweating the small stuff. And if you can get a laugh out of it then even better!

I'd like to see Eliszbeth Stuart.

Yes, I'm making a very brief appearance!! :)

Thing is -- what if the problem here is even greater than it appears!
What if this was NOT a misspelling of your name, Beth?
Perhaps some guy, whose name is Stewart Eliszbeth, is right now wondering why he has not received his bill in the mail!

You will always be "Elisabeth...with an 's'" to me. If it makes you feel better, I always ask Elizabeths how they spell their name now. :o)

I like the Lszbth! Very celebrity-ish Madonna or no name Prince.

My name is often misspelled, too, Cherly, Sheryl, etc. Once, when brand new at a job and required to wear a name badge, I was so nervous I misspelled my own name! I didn't notice until a coworker started pointing and laughing. Oh well...

Thank you for your advice, by the way. I think I will just walk away, after one last communication...We live in the same town and I'd hate to dread running into this person I used to call of my closest friends. You were right. I do deeply regret how it ended, though I felt it coming for months as her depression continued. I'm grieving right now, but I also feel...relieved...I think, to be honest, I knew she'd respond the way she did...and I said it anyway...we were out of sync with each other for so long.

My name on my driver's license is misspelled. And I checked and approved it. I guess I was so use to seeing my name misspelled that it didn't even register.

I mean "used". Can't believe I misspelled that in a post about misspelled words. ; )

Best, and maybe only, misspelling of Kate I have ever seen was Krate. *like*

It could have been Lszbth Stwrt, and then you wouldn't have had to pay the bill.

I almost didn't notice it, but you can bet I would have had it been my name.

A name without vowels sounds oddly appealing...

My full name is the longest name ever. I have two last name thanks to my parents happily living in sin (for the past 30 years) and one of them is Italian.

I don't spell. I just hand out my driver license AND double-check the spelling. Because half of the time, it's not even close and then I have problems!

it was the computer that made the error. henceforth, in all official communications, you will forever be eliszbeth. wait and see.
you will get duplicate catalogues from companies, with both spellings of your name.
it will magically appear when you get your new credit card.
it will be on your car registration.
you'd better order your headstone now, because when you die (hopefully many decades from now), your new official spelling will be on your death certificate.
once its in the computer, its forever. good luck, zbth.
