Time and Time Again...
“So busy, time filled or put in, time in which to do things or time by which to have things done, time for home-comings and different little tasks and leavings, time for coffee or for waking up, time passing, time running out, time gone.”
~Joan Barfoot – Dancing in the Dark
Of course I cannot stop time from passing so quickly, from running out.
But I can make myself pause.
I should - and I will.
When I have a moment.
In the meantime, I shall finish my coffee and proceed with my “little tasks” of the day – which includes stuffing two loads worth of dirty laundry into green garbage bags and heading for the laundromat because my friggin’ not yet two year old washing machine conked out last Saturday.
Sitting in a laundromat. Now, there’s a great way to kill time.
I’m taking a book. For sure.

I remember the laundromat days. When we first moved to NE, we were without furniture, water, and electricity for about ten days. I spent many hours in the plastic chairs, watching the clothes spinning dry. It turned out to be time well spent. Enjoy the necessary time away...on pause. What book will you be reading?
And yet, another repairman enters the life of Beth.
Not much fun to pass the time at the laundromat...but a good book? And a coffee? Making the most of what you've got.
I dunno, sitting in a warm laundromat with a good book sounds kind of relaxing. Enjoy
I enjoy laundromats. My friends and I used to make an event out of it. Through the laundry in, go to the bar next door, order ceasars....
Experience is what you make of it:)
I meant to say 'throw'
Look at it this way, an hour and a half of reading, even if it is in the laundromat cannot be allllll bad.
Do take a book and consider the chore a gift of time!
All those other comments are from fruitcakes! Why go and sit in a Laudromat when you could be curled up on your own sofa with a good book and your 'working' washing machine doing its deed in the back ground. Seems you do have a gremlin in the house...
Ugh - screw job. I still have laundry mat nightmares now and then. They usually include my clean clothes and some jerk smoking at the next machine.
I hope it is a REALLY good book. When our machine broke, taking it to the laundromat was HELL. However, we had 20 plus loads, that might make it a bit different.
I hope your repairman comes soon!!!!
