Burn, Baby, Burn...

Have been out of action with a fever. No, not Olympic* fever – although that too is infectious – but my very own personal heat source.

I’d forgotten what it’s like to be downed by a fever – the strange delirious dreams, your perception of familiar objects and rooms distorted, the sense of being distant from your body, time doing wacky things with your mind – all this due to the body’s own mechanism for fighting some invasive virus or bacteria.

Feeling so off-kilter sort of reminds me of the days I once… Hmm, never mind that bit of irrelevant history.

Today I’m at 98.6 – or close enough. The psychedelic glasses are off and it’s back to reality. My own special version.

Please pass the brownies. (Just kidding!)

*At long last, the first Gold medal for Canada as an Olympic host country! It’s been many, many years. Congratulations and bless you, Alexandre Bilodeau.

The delirium of fever...quite the experience so I am glad to hear that you are back to "normal"...fever wise and other!!

We Canadians are such a "funny" bunch. We downplay our success, we don't like to brag, we are generally modest about our accomplishments (generalizing, but I'm quite correct here)...unlike our neighbours to the north. I sincerely hope that with these Olympic games we learn to lose some of that modesty, to take proper open pride in our accomplishments.

I'm not one for the Olympics...never have been. Not my cup of tea...but if there is something to be learned from them this go round, I hope it's that our young people discover their true voices, strong and free! :)

Try listening to the Pink Floyd - when I have a fever, I suddenly understand all the lyrics and the deep meaning of the songs :-D

I'm missing the Olympics this year and I am pouting about it. I could do without the fever though, glad you are doing better. Did your boys nurse you? Hope so. I bet they would.

Keep getting better.

Hope you're feeling better. Just caught the interview with our Golden Boy with his family. What an incredible kid, that is what the Olympics are all about.

Get well!

And yes, now the other athletes can relax and do their best without the pressure of being the 'one who has to get the gold'.

Much to be said about fever. Glad it's over though. Being sick pisses me off royally. Fever is so disorienting too.

I remember having a fever like that once, it was like taking a trip down Alice's Rabbit Hole! I hope you feel better soon, keep drinking fluids, lots of them.

Congratulations on the Olympic success. I heard the beautiful Canadian National Anthem playing and it brought back such great memories of the summers I spent in Canada. Such special times, I use to have to sing it every am, at the flag pole.

Take care of yourself.

The best thing about flu induced fevers is getting to take Nyquil and have a good excuse. Nyquil induced dreams are the best!

Hope the fever passes. I'm new to your blog and after looking around a bit, have added you to my reader.

I'm hoping to catch up on some TiVo'ed Olympics tonight. (ice skating stuff is my fave)

i'm glad you are feeling better. it's no fun being sick. although too bad you can't remember those weird dreams you get when you're sick because you *know* they have to be important in some way.
yay for 98.6 and gold medals.

I'm glad you're feeling better, Beth. And stay away from those brownies. Send them to the rest of us and we'll dispose of them for you.

Fevers sucks. And then your eyeballs hurt. Eat brownies and get well.
