Ho Ho Ho - Snap!

Notes left for my son – because some days we’re like ships that pass in the night. (The quality of the images – not so good – click to enlarge.)

And, no, his name is not Houston.

And, yes, we are battling mice. The war is now being waged at home as well as at the cottage. I should write my own version of “Town Mouse – Country Mouse.”

(And, Guy, I’m using poison, too. I added traps to my arsenal because they make for less mouse poop and more immediate visible results.)

He didn’t use rubber gloves (they’re for sissies) but he did deal with the remains. Bless that boy.

My ultimate goal for the season:

“Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse…”

P.S. I’m not sure why I’m capable of dealing with dead mice bodies at the cottage but am reluctant to do so here. Perhaps it has something to do with reaching into the dark recesses of the cupboard under the sink and imagining the dead mouse’s friends and family jumping out at me in revenge. Yup, that’s probably it.

Ugh on the mouse problem in the house!!!!

But Beth you are truly gifted...I love how you are dealing with this (Houston is an awesome guy!)...and how you've injected seasonal humour into the situation!!

I know just what you mean, I can deal with the critters at the cottage when I am on my own but not at home. I can't wait until my boys are "man" enough to take care of these situations. Great post.

I know how you feel. I was at Disneyland and had a problem with this mouse...

You are forever looking at the bright side...and it seems you've passed that skill on to Houston! We usually get a mouse or two around this time each year. Will Houston travel to Nebraska?

Why do you have so many mice in your houses? Do you leave a little plate out at night with a nice piece of cheddar and a tiny glass of port?

Did you read the childrens book The Borrowers? Anybody battling mice invasion needs to read this book.

ho ho ho .. snap! Hahaha that made me laugh!

It’s either laugh or cry – geez, so many mice, so little time…
Who’d have thought this would be added to my Christmas to-do list?

Cid:
Bet your guys would be happy to handle those critters now – there’s just something about boys and mice and frogs and toads…. ;)

VE:
Yeah, but I bet you didn’t set a trap for Mickey – you would have been booted out of Disneyland.

Deidra:
I’ll send Houston (Sam) and the mice to Nebraska! Merry Christmas…

Lynda:
I read ALL The Borrowers books! Loved them. Of course, they were human – albeit very small humans.

Cold winter, they just invite themselves in. Glad Houston is helping you out!

it's christmas. perchance when the carolers come to your door, you should enquire about their off-season availability as pied pipers?

Oh no! Mice in the city house too?! I think city mice are tougher than country mice, more tenacious when it comes to setting up house anyway. Thank heavens you have Houston to take control. I wouldn't put my hand in the cupboard either. We have a service called, "Hire a Husband" (for all those chores we wouldn't or couldn't normally do) and I would definitely be dialing that number if I saw evidence in my city house.

The only thing I do not like about the cold of winter, is that little creatures make their way into my house and make it their home. I know they are cute, but something about that tail is evil. Absolutely terrifying!

Have you thought about getting a cat? I'm happy to send mine 'round.

(You have such a great relationship with your son. Love that humor.)

I have no idea why I can totally deal with mice at the cottage but not at home either. When my husband even hinted we might have had mice in our upstairs kitchen before he finished the downstairs one, I simply turned around, left the room, and crawled into bed. Wha?
