Hiatus?

I’m wondering. If I go all out and declare an official hiatus from blogging, might such a deliberate move hasten my return? As in, turn things completely around…

Illogical, nonsensical thinking? Well, yes, but life so often plays out in such a fashion. My life, anyway.

As well as still being very much involved with my mother and her issues, other events have taken place this past week – some so sad and heartbreaking, some simply routine & mundane – all requiring my time and attention. My ability to compartmentalize has just about reached its limit. Something has got to give – I’m just hoping that particular something doesn’t end up being me. (I think my kids believe it already has. Tread softly around Mom…she’s losing it…)

When I have some time, I hope to begin checking in with other blogs. This attempt will no doubt be sporadic as will the leaving of comments. But one should blog for pleasure, not from pressure. Correct?

And now, excuse me while I compose yet another cover letter to accompany yet another faxing of my POA re: my mother to yet another utility company. Apparently, requesting that her bills be sent to my address for payment is highly suspicious. While I have yet to figure out how I could possibly rob these companies by simply paying these bills, I’m giving it some serious thought. I’m that pissed off.

Utilities companies suspicious of fraud for someone who wants to PAY a bill?? What next!!!

A hiatus is never a "bad" thing. Life steps up and demands attention and when that happens, that is where we are. Blogging? It's an extra. Even if it is a pleasure for you, sometimes it has to be put on "hold". And definitely if there is ever pressure involved in this, it's time to pack it in.

I know we'll see you back here on a regular or semi-regular basis when life has calmed down to the point where you are feeling on firm ground.

What?!?! Life gets in the way of ...life? Happens to me all the time. Just enjoy each day (even if you don't get time to blog.) We'll still be here - life permitting.

Never blog out of pressure....we're waiting for you. Hope it all works out and you aren't what gives in the end. That old saw about not killing you and making you stronger....

Hang in there hon.

It'll all get better eventually. It has to.

I completely understand your need for a hiaitus. As someone said first, tend to what needs tending. That's all you can do.

And we've recently done the having everything come to us, when my mother-in-law became too ill to take care of anything. She has since died and I'm wondering how long we'll be getting mail...I told my husband to stamp "deceased" on some of it and just send it back. It's a difficult time -- let yourself deal with that. And in the meantime, if you'd like a little spiritual pick me up, and figuring out how life teaches us what we need to know, take a look at "Decoding the Spiritual Messages of Everyday Life. The author shows combining spirituality with key concepts from modern psychology can help us overcome challenges (you have those in spades right now, it sounds like!) and become more fulfilled. It helps us take care of our soul...

Take care of yourself Beth. I hope things get less stressful for you soon.
Blogs should not cause pressure, they should only be for pleasure or release if needed. Your blog, you decide. We are here and are not going any where.
Just be kind and gentle with yourself. Your too good of a person to be dealing with so much crap.
Wishing you tranquility and better days.

Yes well, everything is suspect these days. Unfortunately, even acts of kindness. There ought to be a clause for utility companies and aging parent. Blog and comment for pleasure, definitely.

Utilities company... don't get me started.

Blogging isn't compulsory, it's perfectly understandable that one need some time off because life is busy.

Put the blog on hold or not, readers will be back when you will :-)

You know...there are no rules to blogging...it's all in your head. You can visit as many or as few blogs as you wish. You write or not write as often as you wish. We'll always be happy for a visit should you have the time!

I know how it can be, I once aimed at posting two to three times a week, but now feel good to post even once a week. It can be like stopping to have a long chat with friends when you're in the middle of a long list of errands. Fun, but there are things to get done, bills to be paid...

Hope it all works out, dealing with big companies - bleghhh! Reward yourself with a massage if you can.
