Happiness Is...

Beth is happy about:

The arrival of spring but not the annual invasion of (big) ants.

The fact that two of her boys are home but not the fridge door being left open all night.

The increased vitality of her dog but not the daily challenge of getting him to take his RX. (It’s actually crossed my mind to tempt him with paté.)

The fact that she is finally writing again but not that she received a big fat rejection (rejections are all big and fat) from the publisher who had previously accepted prior submissions. (I’ll simply submit elsewhere – I’m still thrilled to be writing again…)

The fact that my son Ted will be home from Europe next Tuesday but – HEY, THERE ARE NO BUTS ABOUT THIS ONE!

(And J., if you are reading this, enjoy your visit with my boy. Behave yourselves!)

I gave Chuck meds in cheese until he got too smart and ate the cheese and spat out the pills. Stupid mutt, we're now back at me shoving them down his throat, and no cheese anywhere. The dog doesn't know a good deal when he sees one.

Delighted your writing again, that is excellent. And the boys!

Ohh I love spring and having my boys home too. Good that you are writing again I don't know how you manage those rejection letters -big or small- I would be in tears everytime *no one loves me, everybody hates me!!!*

The big ants I can do with out. . .they are so creepy.

Nothing like a bunch of older kids arriving home with all their mates in tow to bring some life into the house. I miss the big kids too....

Brendan is happy to hear of Beth's happiness. He remains susceptible to irritation about the third person voice. He thinks it works well for this post, he must admit.

On another note: how is it possible for anyone over the age of 4 to leave a refrigerator door open? I say you hand those louts the next electric bill.

oreneta:
Major spits out pills, too - and these ones are chewable tablets so I can't force them down his throat. (Hence, the crazy thought of using pate.)

charlotta-love:
I will. Thanks!

ted:
Be prepared for BIG HUGS!! (And your special request dinner.)

trish:
You learn there's always somewhere else to submit to and you never take it personally!

lynda:
There are already four pairs of big shoes at the front door and one kid still to come home! (I love it.)

j:
I trust you. (Kind of, sort of, maybe...)

mrs. g:
Yeah, no "buts" about that last one.

brendan:
Beth is relieved that Brendan thinks the 3rd person voice works in this post.
As for the fridge? It was only open a tiny crack. I can almost understand it.

Happy you're happy Beth!

Ah, the old "only left it open a crack" defense. Okay, I'd let that one slide. My old refrigerator also has weak magnets in its door, and my old cat has a special fondness for pawing at said door, so I often hear this excuse mewed at me as well.

I want warm days. Don't remind me about the bugs. (I get these tiny and I do mean tiny ants!! I have to squint to see them. Ugh.) Gotta get some arsenic ready...

gary:
I'm happy that you're happy that I'm happy...

brendan:
Smart cat.
I'm lucky the dog didn't notice the fridge door open.

shari:
Arsenic? Won't your dog get into that?
My big ants were caught devouring an apple. That was a first.

Beth-The aresnic stays on the countertops.

Hehehe. We hide the pills for the big dogs in a spoonful of the little yorkie's moist food. They'd never get any otherwise. I guess to them, it's "like" pate. ;-)

Glad to hear you got the guys home (well almost all of them) and that things are going well!

I love that Beth is happy!! And even though she received a rejection letter she did not take said rejection to heart and will submit elsewhere!! I love that Beth is writing again...and her boys will all be home in one week...

There is something about April -- it's not just all the birthdays we've got going in this group -- it's just April -- it's fresh, it's possible!!
