Day After Day...The Show Must Go On
I’m not too thrilled with this particular week – although it beats that home repair week from hell.
For one thing, far too many appointments - doctor, dentist, lawyer, hairdresser (that bloody dye job – those bloody roots showing) and perhaps a visit to the vet. (Again.)
And the other thing? Watching my son running around doing all those last minute things that need doing before he leaves for Australia and Europe. He’ll be gone for over three months. What a fabulous opportunity and adventure.
I will miss my funny, laughing, loving boy.
TED STEWART, DON’T FORGET TO CALL HOME!
(P.S. He gave me permission to post this picture...)

Aww - super cute picture! Ted's adventure sounds excellent (minus Bill).
I hate appointments too...but always feel relieved when they're over with.
HOW EXCITING! Safe and happy travels Beth's son. And, um, keep your pants on.
Love the photo!
aaiiighhh! I'd be in a massive anxiety attack by now! LOL
That's a beautiful pic. Have a great trip, Ted! Can we have updates?
psychgrad:
Dude...
He'll love the reference to Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure! (A classic around here.)
mrs. g:
I relinquished all control (long ago) as to the baring of that tush.
attila:
It's strange. I'm a great worrier but when it comes to something this BIG, I kind of let it go. (But my passport is up-to-date, just in case...)
rebecca:
Yeah, I love that picture. I have similar ones with the other two boys.
Updates? I'm certainly hoping for some - at least, once in awhile!
Love the photo! But ain't it kind of unfair that you get to show Ted's cute butt, but you cut off your own head? Why can't we see your great head? (and how is that great head with the roots?)
How exciting for Ted. I hope he has a fabulous time. And hope you survive this week!
Aw, look at his cute little bum.
That's Australian for butt.
Awwwww...
Those ceasely returning roots...ugh...we are a slave to our beauty fair Beth!!!
The only "good" thing about appointments all in a row is that they are overwith and don't have to be thought about again until they next roll around...
As for Ted...what an adventure..and I had a feeling that was you and he in that photo...just something about "you" that told me who it was...cute photo!
I'm sure he'll have a blinding time AND bring you back hoardes of crabby clothes to wash AND be back before you know it.
Oh, I so love that photo...so so so so....there are weeks like that aren't there, simply buried in the crappy minuti of daily life maintenance. Maintenance is at best....boring.
patricia:
Ted's butt is a lot cuter than my head!
The damn roots are fine (as in, hidden) for now. What a pain.
diesel:
I'll let him know the translation - might come in handy...
(I hope I don't get more hits from undesirables as a result of this "butt" stuff.)
guy:
Yeah, aw, shucks...
(I LOVE that picture!)
sherry:
Not so sure about being a slave to beauty but I can see how I'm going to be one to these roots.
I'm wondering what it was about me in that photo that you recognized?
AMC:
Yes and yes, but I'm not so sure about # 3...
oreneta:
Maintenance is a good word for it. Like a car - regular tune-ups.
(And that photo - I love how he's looking up at me.)
I LOVE THAT PICTURE.
:)
And yes---safe & happy travel wishes for your son!
TED: DON'T FORGET TO CALL YOUR MOTHER. I'M SURE SHE HAS OTHER PICTURES OF YOU THAT SHE WOULDN'T HESITATE TO SHARE ON THE INTERNET IF YOU FAIL TO CALL....
lainey-paney:
Good one!! He's reading the comments - he'll see the threat - and take it seriously. He knows what his mom is capable of!
Beth, I keep hitting post, before I finish my post. What is wrong with me today?
It is funny how all the little things, like appointments, just build up and drain you...
I wish I was going abroad! Best transition into adulthood experience ever :)
I love the picture, it is so cute! I bet he will have a great time. What an exciting time for him, and I love how you trust him. I am taking lessons.
I hate when days are filled with appointments too. Seems like such a waste, but not really. Just stressful.
Have a good Thursday!
XOXO
What a great opportunity. You know, something about being overseas helps in the job department, too. I guess it has something to do with global connections and understanding diversity of language and all that. If we raise one finger here to mean "one", in another country, pointing that finger means "two" for second digit. Something like that. Have a good time, Ted. You don't want your mom to say something here that would "em-bare-ass" you. ;)
Sorry you are having a rough week. Having appts back to back has some benefits. They're done and you can relax again. :)
My roots are showing NOW too. That's why I love those new hair bands everyone is wearing these days. They are perfect for covering up the damn things.
I have to go in on Saturday. It takes FOREVER!
Cute photo. Cutie patootie!
Thanks for visiting my blog!
Love the photo! It's so tough--I want them to have an adventure, but I don't want them to go too, too far from home! :)
princess pointful:
Very true. I went to Europe after graduating - wish I'd been able to stay at least 3 months.
eileen:
I do trust him but he'd go with or without my blessing. Fortunately - for us both - he has it!
shari:
Well done with that "em-bare-ass" line! And, yes, upon his return, it's career time...
la la:
It takes forever, it's boring and you look like a creature from outer space while it's "setting!"
barrie:
It gets tougher. Once they get to a certain age, you have no choice but to let go. But I am thrilled for him.
TED....CALL YOUR MOTHER OFTEN!!!
that is an adorable picture Beth! Such cute cheeks!
beth:
Aren't they? Ah, the good old days...
I'm sorry you are having such a crap week and losing a son for 3 months at the same time...gah!
That picture is precious.
The comment I really want to leave goes to all the young men and women who grow up and leave us: Yes! Call home. Often!
Good luck to both of you on this European journey.
Awwwww :)
Gotta love those little baby boys! Mine has dreadlocks now (recently sort of purple), but he still hugs and laughs and is great young man.
Yours are too, I can tell.
Oh he's so cute! I think kids growing up and leaving sucks...for the Mom anyway. He will have an awesome time in Australia! How exciting!
Wow, I didn't realize that was your son in the picture. I thought it was some cute clip art you borrowed. Even better now that I know it's "real" and not posed. :o)
So your kid is so much of an exhibitionist that he allowed a naked picture of himself on the Web? My my my.
(That is a really cute picture ... and you are a better person than I for asking his permission. I would have done it regardless of what he said.)
Hello! That picture just breaks my heart, your boy in that pic is just older than mine is now. And he is leaving home? Nooooooooooo!!!!!!
I'm sure I'll be ready when the time comes. Gulp.
