You're Gonna Miss Me!

I’m headed to the cottage again.

You will miss me. Yes, indeed, you will!

This is my first summer blogging and I’ve noticed the slow-down, the lack of posts. Makes perfect sense. People are on vacation.

But I’ve been one of the regulars – faithfully posting (well, almost every other day) and leaving comments.

This is also the first summer in many years I’ve spent so much time in the city. It’s strange. The neighbourhood is very quiet.

If I had great Internet connection up North, I’d probably keep in touch. But I don’t (which I’ve bitched about on previous posts) and so trying to keep tabs on the blog world is painful, frustrating and bordering on hopeless.

This is my second week at the cottage this summer. I’m hoping things go well this time. No unexpected or unpleasant surprises. I just want to enjoy the company of my family. My sisters will once again be at their cottages on either side of mine.

I just want to be…

I want to be the me I once was - which I know can’t ever really happen.

But perhaps I can recapture just a little bit of that “me” up there – away from the seemingly endless matters which are part and parcel of dismantling a marriage.

I’m ready to drink coolers at the dock and have laughing fits with my sisters.

I’m ready to tackle the snapping turtle (with what I don’t know) and kick ass if I see a bear. Okay, I would run like hell if I saw a bear even though I think you’re supposed to either stand quietly and/or back up slowly. (Like that’s gonna happen.)

I’m just ready to relax.

But I’ll miss my blog friends. Throughout this long, hot summer you’ve all been a godsend. Thank you for that.

By the way, have you ever heard of Fern Resort? We use to go there a lot?
Safe travels.

Oh!! Have a wonderful time. It has been one helluva a year. Enjoy yourself. And for the love of all drinks pina colada, please stand still if you see a bear.

Can't wait to hear about it upon your return!

Leave your worries on the doorstep.

Wow. Now you've got me wondering if I've done anything bad lately...

eileen:
I've been to Fern Resort once - many, many years ago. I'm sure it's changed a lot since then.
(Hope all goes well for you and yours.)

all mod cons:
I will!

Got it. Stand still while drinking Pina Coladas. No running, climbing trees or kicking ass.

(thanks...)

Worries? What worries? They're all packed away in a suitcase I'm not taking.

Everyone needs a little time away, fortunately you're getting that vacation. Enjoy!

sornie:
Yeah, everyone does deserve a little time away - I know I'm lucky to get the chance. I'll enjoy - for sure.

Have a great time Beth. Enjoy yourself and tell us all your adventures when you get back!

I'm hoping for not so many adventures - more of a laid back, lazy, do (almost) nothing summer vacation by the lake. But I'll still give a report!

Have fun...it should be great. We'll be waiting

megan:
I'll be waiting - packed and ready - I'll just have to do my "off, off, off" routine before we leave.

And it will be a week we both deserve!

lainey-paney:
Thanks - I know I'll have fun - lots of family around.

oreneta:
You'd better be waiting!
(Keep having fun - don't let all that work get in your way...)

You're LEAVING??? Oh well. You make sure you have fun this week. May you find yourself. And if you run into a bear, see if you can get him to dance.

Maybe even a (teddy) bear picnic? I can be pretty persuasive.
(Thanks.)

If there's anyone who deserves a little "me" and reflection time, it would be you.

Heh, funny about the cooler on the dock. That is a summer ritual if ever there was one...

I, on the other hand, forgot to bring any up with me and went the whole week without -although a glass of wine works just fine- so the first thing I did in town was go to the LCBO and bought a wee little six pack of Vex -the mango/kiwi kind- and had one on the front porch at home. Not quite the dock but it will have to do. It's a summer-in-Canada kind of thing.

And pedicures? I am obsessive about pedicures at the cottage...every female gets one whether they want one or not.

Hope you are having a wonderful time...did you bring a good book? Of course you did...you're BooksBeth!

Nothing beats a little R&R with family. I have to wait until November to get mine.
