Puhleese...

Oreneta’s June 1st post reminded me of a crazy item I read in yesterday’s Globe and Mail.

“Russell Parrish, 29, of Florida has been turned down for more than two dozen jobs in the past few months. "It comes down to skin colour," he told The Orlando Sentinel. Mr. Parrish has dozens of tattoos that cover his arms, hands, torso and neck. He has launched an advocacy group to fight for the rights of the heavily tattooed.”

What next?? An advocacy group for those scarred from body piercing?

(Neither mutilation for me, thanks. My body is a temple. Hah. Hah. The Temple of Doom, maybe…)

Choices and consequences, people, choices and consequences…

I saw a photo of an enormous body tattoo once, riding up the person's belly and chest are people riding in horses with top hats...there are hounds roaring over his shoulders and down his back, coming to a point along his spine about half way down...then there is the tail of a fox disappearing down the crack in his butt....

Gets points for humour anyway.

Yeah, that would be amusing to look at - once. Imagine living with it every day?
I can't even begin to fathom those body tattoos. (Smaller ones, yes.)

Which I have to say, the picture at the top of the post is Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue who is way hot. I don't think that he's ever had trouble getting a job because of his tatoos. In his line, it probably helps.

Hey, perhaps Russell Parish should try the entertainment industry in his quest for a job.
Body tattoos are a plus there - having a good body and some talent also helps.

I happen to like tattoos on guys, but not covered in them. Just a few well placed ones. I want to get o ne myself, on my wrist but I don't know what to get! I have to live with it forever so it better be something I like.

Wrists, ankles - great spots!
Go for it.
Check out some of the tattoo sites on the Internet for ideas.

Tattoos are really making their way into the business world -- particularly among women, in fact. Especially those lower back tattoos.

Frankly, one shouldn't be allowed to have an advocacy group for a voluntary thing. That doesn't make sense.

Totally agree.

So you've been noticing those lower back tattoos? Kind of hard to miss...

Tattoos are like the coming of age symbol of my generation.
I find that a little disconcerting. While I think there are some gorgeous and well-done ones, I would not want anything I thought was cool upon high school graduation permanently inked on my body. Yikes.

Also, those of my friends who are getting them now are at least making a conscious decision to get them in easily coverable places to help with their attempts at professionalism.

Some tattoos are delightful - but it's definitely a wise career move to put them in discreet places!
