If I’d read an announcement — such as the one I recently made — on someone else’s blog, I’d want to know how that someone was doing.
Granted, it would be none of my business, but I’d still want to know.
I have no intention of turning this blog into a “woman going through a separation” journal. Not only would I find that distasteful, it would ruin the entire blogging experience for me. It sure as hell’s not why I started a blog.
Having said that, I’m going to give a brief update as to how we’re doing. Some people may be wondering — out of genuine concern. And some have been in touch.
Since I’ve received so many wonderful supportive comments and e-mails, I think an update is the right thing to do. (I hope so — not quite sure — it’s all new territory here...)
So, here it is:
We’re okay. We still laugh, smile and joke despite the down times.
More hugs happening — more how are ya’s? These kids are amazing. We’re all watching out for one another. While I’m doing my damnedest to “be there” for them – they’re doing the same for me.
You cope — because you’re surrounded by people you love and who love you.
Personally, I’m having a bit of trouble turning my brain off. Hence, I am still checking in with other blogs. It’s a wonderful way to get out of myself. My “usual” blogs still make me think, smile and laugh. Amazing.
So, if you’re wondering, “What the hell is she doing reading blogs right now?” the simple answer is — because she can.
Escape? Well, yes — and a good one.

Sounds like a great idea to me!
So glad that you're coping as best can be. Still thinking of ya!
I'm so glad you're hanging in there. I've been thinking about you this last week, but haven't known how to comment. :-(
xoxo
Thanks for the update. I've also been thinking about you and wondering how you're doing.
Hang in there - and keep writing.
Beth, I'm so glad to see you checking into my blog daily. I'm honored that you visit.
Glad you are surrounded by love and support, your boys are wonderful...
Escaping into blogs is good therapy too.
patricia:
I am mastering (mistressing?) the art of coping!
attila:
Thanks for those thoughts of yours...every bit helps.
rebecca:
For sure - I'm hanging in.
(thanks)
guy:
I need my daily "Guy" fix - lessons on toothpaste, fish, flying, etc.
trish:
They are wonderful, precious - you name it...
And "therapy" is a good way to describe keeping up with other blogs - costs nothing and the benefits are great.
now I feel bad for not updating my blog in two weeks! this nice weather is interfering with my writing ; )
you are such a strong woman beth. really. I'd be a basket case or in jail for killing my husband. I'm so glad that you have those boys to look after you. It's nice to see that they are good men, no?
keep reading if that's what makes you feel better...or drinking. ;)
rebecca:
Yes, you have been very remiss as to keeping up your blog. (I've been checking and will continue to...)
beth:
Tell it like it is, girl!
(Although jail doesn't really appeal to me right now.)
Alas, I've never been a big drinker - not such a good time to start, right?
Seems like the right thing to do for me, and thank you for the update. Been worrying about you, why do we do that, eh?
Chin up as my British family always say...or hang in there...whatever. take care of yourself and those boys.
Best wishes to all of you.
oreneta:
The chin is so very up!
And always, there are good things happening in our lives too.
Good to see you plodding forward. It's always nice to have someone visit, and vice-versa.
Man, I wish I could turn my brain ON. Most of the time it just sits in the off position, even when I want it on. Stupid brain.
And hang in there!
Delurking to say 'Hang in there... and so glad you are updating....'
jr:
"Plodding" is a good word - although sometimes it's a bit of a frantic "plod."
Thanks for checking in.
dorky dad:
If we could combine brains, we might just come up with a "normal" functioning one... (Maybe??)
pendullum:
Glad you "de-lurked." Thanks for the support.
Beth, I am thinking of you. Thank you for the update.
We do what we do, to cope.
Anyone that criticizes the sincere soul's shot at equilibrium... should be shot!
A rabbit chews it's own leg off, to get out of the trap.
Beth, she..... reads blogs.
Me?
I do heroin!
Or.... as that great philosopher Mitch Hedberg once put it:
"I used to do drugs. I still do drugs. But I used to, too!"
Beth, you're one of my "usuals." I'm thinking of you!
I understand completely.
I try to resist turning my blog into a step by step account of any particular problems I am having at the time- but, at the same time, sometime it is nice to just put those thoughts out there and rid them from our heads.
And, yes, I have been wondering- so it's nice to hear :)
cipriano:
Well, I tried chewing my leg but reading blogs turned out to be far more comfortable...and rewarding...
(Re: the drug use - no wonder your posts are so eclectic and amazing!)
kate:
And you're one of mine.
(Thanks.)
princess pointful:
Oh, I'm sure "stuff" will leak out into my blog but I'm determined to keep this particular "stuff" to a minimum.
And thanks for "wondering."
Can I chime in and say I'm thinking about you as well. A bit of virtual support and all that other good stuff.
ragdoll:
You certainly can - and your thoughts and support (all that "good stuff") are very much appreciated.
