Of Boxes and Things

Yup, I’m still thinking about my boy. (Of course I am — and not simply for sentimental “mom” reasons. I’m still plowing through the chaos he left in his wake following the last minute packing.)

Just look at that picture. Nobody suggested or encouraged this child to fit himself into an empty diaper box. It’s just the sort of thing he thought of doing on his own — along with dozens of other similar stunts.

This is one guy who not only thinks “outside the box” — he’ll wear the damned thing!

Wonder how the military is coping with this particular unique individual?

(If they break his spirit, I’ll…I’ll…
I’ll what?
Geez, I don’t know what I’ll do.
Maybe check with Attila the Mom?)

P.S. How in the world did you get a boy in a box delivered? I had to grow mine the old-fashioned way!

beth: I'm dating myself with that huge diaper box, right?
I'm beginning to think (from bits of info I'm getting) that communication home is not encouraged. That is the pits.

attila: The bunny slippers would help - and so would some of your kick-ass attitude. (Thanks.)

The boy in a box delivery thing? So simple. FedEx. Lets you keep your girlish figure!

I love little boys...so adorable!

I have this running joke with my oldest that if his coach chews him out I will be there the next day to give the coach a piece of my mind...he won't know what hit him. Sort of like Miss Piggy when she gets mad **Karate CHOP**

Or that I will bring his baby book to show his coach/teachers so they can see how cute he was and feel bad about chewing him out.

We laugh about how embarrasing it would be if I actually did that. It's just so that he knows that whatever happens, his momma loves him.

Perhaps you could bring baby pictures when you meet his Officers? I am sure he would appreciate it...LOL

I joke of course.

trish: My kids know (from experience) that I will be in the face of and take on anyone who messes with them. Part of the job description, right? It's all part of loving them.

But the military? Gulp. I've seen some of these dudes. I would definitely need Attila's bunny slippers.

No Beth, I am so sure you could take them on for your kid...so sure.

Hang in there.

Beth said...

oreneta: Yeah, I would. Might get jail time for even trying, but...
Here's hoping he's loving every minute of it - including the 5:00 a.m. wake-up!

That's a great photo. It looks so real that it almost looks fake. Or something like that.

Make sure you show that photo to his prom date.

We picked up our diapers in an enormous box tonight, as a matter of fact! But that's from Costco, where everything is enormous.

Hubby was in the Marines, and they don't break their spirits, what they do is break down their individuality (temporarily, I can assure you!) so that you are totally open to taking orders. Hubby was not a good Marine. Hubby spent 36 straight hours doing pushups once for slugging a drill instructor who insulted his mama.

But that's another story...

dorky dad: It does look surreal, doesn't it? I'm saving it (and many others) for his future wife. Slipped my mind at prom time.

mom of three: Your assurance re: the military only temporarily breaking their individuality helps. Really.
And I believe he's already been "written up" once. That's my boy!
