Christmas Spirit! I've Got Some!

I know I’ve been sounding grumpy and Scrooge-like lately.

I’m going to make up for it today. (Are you nervous?)

How about that cute picture of Santa? No nasty (or wickedly funny) cartoon image posted today — just a really nice jolly Saint Nick.

I mailed my Christmas cards this week, but I’m thinking I should also send Season’s Greetings to my blog friends. So, click on the link below. Hope it works for everyone. (I love Santa’s leg action.)

Season’s Greetings and Happy Holidays to you all!

And since I’ve been kvetching so much about baking, recipes and subjecting you all to my “I-hate-to-cook” mantra, I’m going to make it up to you by sharing a Christmas recipe. (And, no, this is not the one I used for that damned recipe exchange thing and by the way I have not yet received any recipes for my efforts with that so to hell with ever doing any other chain letter thing-ma-jig — how’s that for a run on sentence??)

Hope you don’t already have this recipe. It’s so much nicer sharing something new.

CHRISTMAS COOKIE RECIPE

1 cup of water
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup of sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup of brown sugar
lemon juice
4 large eggs
1 cup nuts
2 cups of dried fruit
1 bottle Crown Royal/Whiskey/Rum

Sample the Liquor to check quality.

Take a large bowl, check the Liquor again to be sure it is of the highest quality - pour one level cup and drink.

Turn on the electric mixer...Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl.

Add one teaspoon of sugar...Beat again.

At this point it's best to make sure the Liquor is still OK, try another cup.. just in case.

Turn off the mixer thingy.

Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit.

Pick the frigging fruit off floor...

Mix on the turner.

If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers just pry it loose with a dewscriver.

Sample the Liquor to check for tonsisticity.

Next, sift two cups of salt, or something.... who giveshz a sheet.

Check the Liquor.

Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.

Add one table.

Add a spoon of ar, or somefink.... whatever you can find.

Greash the oven.

Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over.

Don't forget to beat off the turner.

Finally, throw the bowl through the window.

Finish the bottle of Liquor.

Make sure to put the stove in the dishwasher.

oreneta - Judging by the look of your comment, you've been trying out the recipe! Good stuff. And that song IS a hoot...

rebecca - Make some more! You have lots of time for more baking before the 25th!

marni - Yeah, I'm back. (I never really left.) And what a fabulous idea - to send that song to everyone you know! (Thanks...)
