Room With a View

“To put it rather bluntly, I am not the type who wants to go back to the land; I am the type who wants to go back to the hotel.”

~ Fran Lebowitz

Oh, yeah. That is so me.

Was reminded of this quotation while despairing over the accumulation of junk in the garage - some of which includes camping equipment belonging to one of my sons.

I am not a fan of bugs & bears nor of being at the mercy of the elements.

I prefer my creature comforts indoors rather than out.

Fran, you and me...wouldn't that be a road trip -- er, hotel trip!! :) Man learned to make buildings so he wouldn't have to sleep on the ground...that is what I call "progress". Camping? No thanks!

I like to think that I enjoy camping but truthfully, I'll take a soft comfy bed over bugs and bears anyday ;)

I am with you on that! I keep saying that I want to go camping one day. And by camping I mean one of those luxury RVs with hot water, a king-sized perfect sleeper, soft sheets and a hot tub.

well, I like my comforts inside and out....but I know what you mean.

I think because we tend to spent so much time indoors during winter, we are all bugged by our mess.

My husband and I have a couple of couples we go camping with every summer. And by that I mean an entire week of roughing it without showers or electricity. Well we are semi clean as we play in the ocean during the day. The kids love the campfires at night, the ghost stories and the naming of the constellations. However, such a trip is always followed by one I take with my mom, sisters and daughter to some gorgeous resort spa.

De-cluttering is so difficult when it's someone else's stuff taking up the space. It's harder to see your own stuff too. And then there is the question of making the decisions of keeping or ousting when it's not yours. I am not a big nature girl, I love being out in it but then I like getting back inside where there is running water and bug-free zones. Camping - moi? I am never a happy camper.

I used to love camping in a tent. Then I moved up to cabins and now I have moved up to hotel rooms. I've gotten better with age HA

i 51% agree with you.
i love being outdoors and doing something active. but i like a good hotel with poolside service just as well.
given the choice between a buggy life and a bug-free one, i'd probably choose bug free.
and wild bears scare me.
i love the quote.

I just enjoyed 6 nights at the Four Seasons in San Francisco. I see your point...

This is so me. A hotel room, with a view and a stack of books. Pure bliss. I so get it.

Oh, I'd really like that quote to be on display somewhere in my new house.

Where's my magic wand?
Camping equipment be gone!
Room Service, be here!

'roughing it' is a 3-star as opposed to a 4 or 5! ;) lol

My ex said, "Yeah I like to go camping - it's called a Holiday Inn."

I like both, but after time in the bush, I like a nice long bath and a cold beer.

Oh, how I love a decent hotel!! I've never been much for camping because I never get any sleep.
