How I Spent My Summer Vacation

a mouth full of Strawberry-Pineapple cooler

Does anybody want to hear all about my cottage vacation?

Didn’t think so.

Unless I managed to take fabulous pictures of never-before-seen subjects or discovered the secret to eternal youth (I did neither) what’s the point of writing about it? It would read like a Twitter post on steroids.

Condensed version - my time away was wet (rain), wild (animals) and wonderful (family and friends). The hot summer weather finally arrived 3 days prior to the end of my allotted cottage time. Figures.

I’ve actually been home for awhile but other than addressing matters demanding my immediate attention, I’ve been letting things slide – have been drifting. I’m not yet in home mode.

Since I’ve been absent from the blogging world for most of the summer, I may have lost a few readers. So be it. I’m cognizant of blogging etiquette – there’s a lot tit-for-tat involved. One (ideally) writes interesting and regular posts and exchanges comments with others. Guilty of negligence on all counts.

I’ll resume regular posting, etc., as soon as I adjust to the routine and pace of the real world again.

But to be honest, I just want to go back…

I would be happy to hear about cottage life...anything you were doing that is of interest to you, is of interest to moi!

It's nice to have you back..you've been missed you know.

And wanting to go back? Staying in slow-mo, vacation mode?? Me too!!!!! I think I'm going to make this my "permanent" mode...a whole lot of "whenever......."

i love your lampshade hat.
having some cottage days away (especially after that terrible hot weather you've been having) sounds like heaven.
i always get a thrill seeing wild animals. of course, i give them a respectful distance, unless they're deer (i allow deer to get as close to me as they feel comfortable). well, squirrels and chipmunks too, and most birds. but the really, really wild animals, with big teeth, big feet or big horns, i watch from a distance. even then, watching them is still better than a big-screen television or staring at a sink full of dishes.
welcome home, and welcome back.

You were missed. And how I miss spending my summers at a lake in Canada. Count yourself as fortunate. Welcome back.

Where's the misery, where's the suffering? All summer long vacations should have that. I'm afraid you need a do-over. Your readers need conflict and emotioni. Oh wait, that's the publishing world...never mind. I've been writing a novel and my brain has been mostly occupied.

Beth:
Why, thank you very much. (A great deal gets censored on this blog!)

Sherry lee:
So, we both want to go back... Let’s do a Thelma and Louise – without the cliff!

Deidra:
It’s good to be back in many ways – in others, I’m taking my own sweet time about it.

Cheri:
Maybe not so much a rainy, rainy, rainy one...

Patti:
You’ve had other lovely gifts/blessings this summer.
(I’d take you back with me if I could.)

Seraphine:
No “blubber” providing animals spotted – and no olives!

Reeny:
Very hard to get back to that grind.
I’m waiting for THE post from you – and some pictures!

Cid:
Hard to believe our summer is almost over isn’t it? So much rain.

Guy:
I know I’m very fortunate – maybe even spoiled? ;)

Lainey-Painey:
Cute as can be with a mouth full of alcohol!

Mouth Irish Woman:
Yes, I did! Could have been worse. ;)
(I’m watching for you.)

VE:
The misery and suffering was all there – it’s a tradition at our family cottage compound!
And I’m hoping for humour in that novel.

Iknow what you mean. We love our vacations and need "recovery time" from our vacation. Why not extend the vacationZ?? That's my thought, anyway. Glad you enjoy your time "up north" at your cottage.

It was a very special time... I loved it and want to be back there too. Reality is sometimes too harsh.

Just when did you snap that photo - the one with the sun shining? Glad to see you back in your seat. Alas, the summer is waning for us all...

Wet holidays, you bet. But at least, summer is here now! Well, at least for a few days, before winter begins :$

Welcome back to civilization.

Sometimes the best part of getting lost is in staying that way.

I need to find me a cottage.

i don't like olives either. i'd rather eat celery, cherries or pickles. or better yet, pineapple.
and i was only *kidding* about canadians using blubber to keep warm! lol.

Summer in a cottage...how ideal and romantic that sounds, agreeable weather or not.

Missed you :)

What did you read while you were there? I found a new release at the library called "Broken" that was really good. How about Beth's Summer Reading List? There's nothing more I like to accomplish on summer vacation than the extra reads.

Very intrigued by strawberry pineapple cooler. (Please explain.) Also, like the Mom of Three, I would love to know what you have been reading.

Funnily enough, I've just been editing my photos from the Lake District -- just got back. I seem to have lots of pictures of sheep. (Do you think that anyone else is interested?)

You've transcended blogging etiquette for me, and are now thought of as "a friend." So . . . of course I'm glad you are back and I want to hear all about it!
