Wobbly Words

"My spelling is Wobbly. It's good spelling but it Wobbles, and the letters get in the wrong places." A. A. Milne

An apt description of my typing skills – the letters get in the wrong places.

And over the years, I’ve come to rely more and more on spell-check. I find this appalling.

Two reasons why I prefer writing in longhand first. With pen and paper, misspelled and mixed-words aren’t as glaring – don’t interrupt me mid-sentence.

P.S.
Happy Victoria Day Weekend to those of you (us) who celebrate it. What we actually celebrate is having a holiday Monday. Dare I say it? No one really cares about Victoria’s birthday. Nor do I think she would appreciate the drinking and partying that goes on in her name. The fireworks, maybe.

I'm a tad wobbly myself.

My words are wobbly because the batteries are dying in my keyboard and, of course, I can't find any new ones. They are in the myrid of remotes and electronic games found strewn about the house. We are celebating Queen "We are not amused" Victoria with a brunch and tiaras. Happy May Two-Four!

Since I prefer to take all global holidays, happy Victoria day to you too. I have a many wobbly words in my posts...mostly because I don't proof them at all. I always seem to mix up your and you're for some reason. I clearly know the usage...it just happens.

Bloopy bloo and wobbly woo...I made that up...but I love Milne!! My letters are wobbly when I've had too much wine and think I can type!!

Happy fire cracker day to you too -- and Vicky? I think she'd be appalled that we're celebrating on the 18th which isn't even her birthday!!!

Looks like that guy has been drinking. I think it would make more sense to have the holiday weekend next week, it just feels too early. For awhile this holiday was called Dollard Day (heaven forbid we should be celebrating anything without a francophone name) now I believe it's Patriotes Day (journee des patriotes). Any way you turn it, I'll take it!

happy v day to you too, beth :)

reminds me of the time joe carter wore his 'torotno' blue jays jersey and did not notice the goof! lol

I find it interesting that some words that I always thought I was spelling correctly I now know I am not as they show up on the spell checker, such as definite, which I thought was defenite. How I say it. Sad, but true.

My spelling's generally fine, but my handwriting has definitely deteriorated since I've started typing more. Typing's so much faster and easier. But then I do mak equite a fwe typos...

But being wobbly never stopped anyone from writing!

cid:
I don't have the dying keyboard excuse - just lousy typing skills.
Happy May Two-Four to you, too!

ve:
You're posts are fine - the wobblies just add to the humour!

sherry lee:
"Bloopy bloo and wobbly woo..." - Milne's protege!
Happy V-Day. (It's cold this weekend...)

bodhi chicklet:
Never knew that about Quebec. Makes sense - anything British must be a no-no there.
Enjoy the holiday!

laughingwolf:
"torotno" - that's exactly the kind of spelling I come up with using a keyboard.
(Ah, Joe Carter - ah, the long ago thrill of having a winning team...)

oreneta:
Definite is a bug-a-boo of mine, too. How can we not be sure of the proper spelling by now?

leigh:
Typing is not easier for me - hence all the typos. Thank God I can still read my handwriting.

My spelling has always been wobbly, it drives me crazy. Thank God for spell check, even then it does not always catch it. I write long hand too, and keep one of those Franklin Spellers, close at hand. My brain just keeps getting more and more wobbly as I get older. Glad I'm in good company!

Happy Victoria Day to you!

I've always felt that long-hand writing gives a person more time to get the words right.

Sometimes I get so excited about what I want to say that my fingers trip over themselves.

Have a wonderful day!

Happy Long Weekend to you, too, Beth!
Vive le ne travaille pas!Your posting reminds me of the most extremely modest statement by an author, of all time.
Mordecai Richler, who said:
"There's 26 letters in the alphabet. I jumble them up."He jumbled them up pretty good.
I love him.

i've given this much consideration. actually, the letters are not in the wrong places. it's the design of the qwerty keyboard that's at fault.
whoever thought of placing letters next to each other was a complete lunatic. i *hate* when i go to type an H and get G or a J instead.
it's probably a conspiracy. it's surely a conspiracy.
and completely *NOT* your fault.
