Peek-a-Boo, I See You

I am so out of the loop in terms of connecting via the Internet (i.e. Twitter, Facebook and the like…). It’s a miracle I ever started blogging.

Anyway, I inadvertently discovered yet another means to connect (stalk?) while I was trying to figure out how a certain someone found my blog.

It’s called PeekYou.

And lordy, lordy - I’m on it!

Yup, a rather sketchy profile has been created for me - but not by me. I’d never heard of the site before nor ever registered to be on it. And you must register to edit a profile. Since my age is given as 251 years, I was curious enough to click on “Edit Profile.” Access denied. (Trust me – I am not that old and if I was, I’d be a bit of a celebrity now, wouldn’t I?)

Apparently other people can create your profile and then track your activity on the web. My son pointed out that the likely culprit is a web crawler, trolling the Internet and coming up with profile information from other sites (i.e. Blogger). Still, people have the option of doing this as well.

If I’m mistaken about this, feel free to correct me - and I’m addressing either the person or organization responsible for adding me to the site. I only gave the PeekYou “faq” page a cursory glance.

Big Brother (or Sister) is watching you – and me….

Creepy, huh?

Check it out – see if you’ve been Peeked or Poked or whatever.

And, no, I did not create a profile for anyone while I was there.

I am not a stalker.

these things kinda freak me out...exp. after watching the movie "Eagle Eye" last night. good movie!!!

Oh great - yet another social networking site to feel paranoid about!

How come I've never heard of this one before? I'll have to go check it out . . .

That is just weird, freaky and scary!!

I'm trying to resist the Facebook and Twitter lures . . . I "waste" enough time blogging as it is!

Okay, I'm probably a dufus, but I can't find anyone on that site. Me or you! Oh, and someone created a facebook profile for me that I didn't know about, and I kept getting add friend invitations at an email address I didn't use for my own facebook account. When I went to check it out, I couldn't edit it because I didn't have the password, so I clicked on lost password and then it was sent to my email address. I went right back there, signed in, and deleted the damn thing! Is that something you could try?!

Beth:
Maybe I don't want to know ALL about you but what you do reveal is fun to know - and to watch!

Pak:
Thanks for the visit.

Trish:
If you're on it, hope they got your age down correctly. 251!?

Bee:
Don't think of it as a waste of time - you actually get to meet great people (in real life...) via blogging. (When you're in Toronto, email me if you have time. Perhaps we can get together.)

She:
Oh, I am definitely on it!
And I can't be bothered deleting my profile - there are probably many more sites just like it.

I am actually fairly in the loop, and I haven't heard of this...nasty...

I will go check it out...

Love ya, even if you are 251!

I'm not on any of them. Facebook? I don't want my face in a book! Myspace? It's not their space, it's mine! Why would I open it up? Twitter? Is that Tweety Birds older brother that Slyvester ate?

Oooh how creepy. I'm not there, thank God.
