I Could Write A Book...

Hah! Fooled ya! I’m back already. (The joke’s on me and it ain’t so funny…)

While yesterday I had an hour and a half meeting by phone, another meeting was postponed until Monday.

Various people informed me that the image on my last (brief) post implied I was in court regarding my legal situation. Uh-uh. Just preparing to go to court.

So that you can get a sense of what it’s like to be immersed in this sort of boondoggle (love that word!) here’s a mini-synopsis/review of a book (as yet unwritten) entitled:

“Beth And The Legal System”

A flurry of activity - letters, emails, phone calls, prep, meetings, meetings postponed - and then? The wait. Again. What could possibly happen next?! Another postponement? Something actually accomplished? Purchase your copy (when it’s written/published) and find out!

This book has it all – suspense, drama, mind-numbing minutiae, staggering boredom and lots of swear words. Not for the faint of heart.

I’ve retained my sense of humour.

My sanity? Questionable.

Other appointments Friday, all boys home this weekend - busy time. Also have to prepare for Monday’s meeting – discovered its agenda is not what I thought it was. Need a new mindset. (A new mind would be even better.) Blogging and posting will remain sporadic.

Hope all is well in your worlds. I’ll be checking in today to find out.

My experiences with the legal system have been the same. Shouldn't it be more like "Law and Order"?

Glad you have the boys this weekend.

I have my own thoughts about the legal system and the people within in -- experience is a great teacher. I have discovered as well that it is about "power"...those who have little else in their lives (i.e. sense of worth) and feel a great sense of self as they "wield" it over others.

I can't wait to read "the book" -- life is often stranger than fiction!

And remember this:

those who like to "have their cake...and eat it too"...often end up grossly overweight (it's so unattractive..think Henry VIII), alone and suffer terribly from congested arteries and heart disease. It's a known fact.

Oh, oh, I'll buy one of your books! I should tell you, though, that I only read books that have big bulky men holding scantily clad women on the cover and have titles like "Legal System at Midnight," or "Gravel Confessions," or "Bureaucratic Lust".
...so when's the release date?

so maybe we can finally learn the origin of the term 'throwing the book' at someone.
and lots of swear words? guessing that's mostly away from the courtroom. the law experience is so colorful!

I'd like to pre-order my copy today!

I'm not faint of heart, and I'd read anything you write!

I'm just wishing you didn't have to "write" it at all!

Keeping your sense of humour is key! (I'm going to change the way I spell words because of you!)

Enjoy your kiddos this weekend!

Love.

One of the things that brought me to Japan was the American legal system.
If you have to deal with anything that faintly resembles that particular mess I suggest you maintain a highly developed sense of humour and make certain all of prescription drugs are close at hand.

Or Judge Judy? ;)

sherry:
Not so keen on this experience - and if the current trend continues (time-wise) I'll have to start writing the book in installments or I'd never start.

The release date?? God, I wish I knew!
And it won't be me on the cover if "scantily clad" is the way to make sales.

seraphine:
The swear words? All "fiction."
I never swear! ;)

she:
Now I'm wondering if I really will write about it... Maybe...

nyd:
The sense of humour? A-OK.
The prescription drugs? Working on that... ;)

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, isn't that the saying...seems to me a sense of humour will carry an awfully long way as well. Goodness, what a saga it must be, at least the boys will be around, you should all have a good laugh...wasn't there a food fight at your house one day with them?

You forgot to mention that the book is also about betrayal, dishonesty, cruelty, and the definite theme of good and evil. Sounds like one of those monster books that Stephen King writes. The best part is that the good always WINS.

So good to have those boys home isn't it? And I think that sense of humour IS sanity - once it's gone then you're in trouble.

wait, wait, wait...those who have their cake & eat it too...
what good is having cake if I can't eat it?
perhaps the phrase should be: you can't eat your cake & have it too.
once you've eaten it...well, it's eaten.

I say, "let them eat cake!"

Sounds frustrating. And that's the first time I've seen the word boondoggle!
