Just Ramblin'

The better I feel, the more I want to do. The more I do, the more I realize what a toll the surgery took. This is extremely frustrating. I want to be “me” again. Hell, I’m looking forward to being able to do chores!

Don’t ever take for granted your ability to do the most mundane things in the world.

The “ex” moved out (most of) his belongings on the weekend. People warned me this would be traumatic. I didn’t find it to be that horrendous. There was more a sense of relief that another step had been taken in what seems like a very long process.

Don’t ever let junk in your home pile up for twenty years. You will be sorry.

While I was sitting on the deck yesterday, a robin perched on a wire overhead. I glanced up to see a lovely blob of bird poop headed my way. Excellent timing. I moved.

Question? Why is bird poop white? This dude had just been eating red berries. I should Google this. How have I lived this long without knowing?

Don’t ever lose your sense of wonder – even regarding something as yucky as bird poop.

My ability to lose myself in a book (and retain what I have read) returned last week. Thank God.

Don’t ever underestimate the joy, escape and strength you can get from reading.

That’s it. Ramblin’s over…

The ex moving out is a sad thing indeed, I am so sorry. {hugs}

Surgery and separation at the same time sounds like a horrendous combination but perhaps relief was the silver lining.

As for bird poop. I asked a vet that same question when I had a pet parrot and he said that the white part was the "urine".

Bird poop is purple during mulberry season anyway...I love the feeling of health returning however slowly.

Beth, as I read your posts here and your comments elsewhere I continue to be amazed and impressed by your maturity and your elegance and grace in what can only be a very very difficult time. Truely, you are a very wonderful person.

Hugs.

How the hell do you spell truely anyway

truely

or truly

Ah well. They both look wrong.

ex got all of his things, huh? good for him...now on to more important things...YOU!!

I'm so glad you're starting to feel like your old self again, cuz that self is pretty cool, and I love her!

Now about the bird poop...I've wondered why it's white too...but right now, we have a mulberry tree in FULL BERRY and the birds are loving it...so we only have purple poop all over the place...on my patio, the car, the picnic table(YUK) everywhere. I can only wash the patio so many times a day!

Thanks for the "bird dropping" tip. (Who knew?)
And a special thanks for the {hugs}.

oreneta:
So much for elegance and grace - your kind words brought tears. ("Truly.")
Many thanks - 'cause they were good tears.

beth:
Yes, here's to "me!" (The old and the new.)
Guess I should be grateful the poop around here is white!
Love ya too - blog buddy.

Okay...so, it's weird that you post this & this morning before I got to work, I was thinking about all of the different things that Gage may ask me some day, & I have NO idea of the answers!

Like...why can birds perch on electric wires, but if I did it, I would be electrocuted?

Why is bird poop white?

How does a camcorder work?

What are batteries made of?

Which takes longer to decompose: an aluminum can, or a glass bottle? Which one is worse for the environment?

See...all of those things.
TGIG: Thank goodness for "google".

Imagine having to have a poo everytime you needed a wee. That's SO inconvenient. And think of all the loo paper you'd use.

You are so lucky to have Google for help. Those (and hundreds of other) questions are real stumpers when they come from kids. Unless you're a genius. Which I'm not.

john:
What an intriguing perspective on bird elimination!
(I should have known when I mentioned bird poop I'd get some interesting comments.)

**express delivery of F*kitol pills on their way to you**

Very sorry to hear about the seperation AND surgery all at the same time....yikes!! But glad to hear that you are also feeling the relief and starting on the road to recovery with both aspects. Neither an easy task.........

Be gentle with yourself and take good care.......:)

Thanks for your comment - and advice. (We survive it all, don't we?)

nomad:
You're back - again! Great to hear from you.
(If it makes you feel any better, the "big" move was on Saturday...)

Way to make every day ramblings seem meaningful!
I hope you start getting more and more active as the sun starts showing itself :)

Thanks, Trish, for answering that question, because I was stumped on the bird poop thing. I probably would have said something like ... oh, what am I kidding. I would have ignored it.

Sorry he moved out. Glad it wasn't that traumatic, though. I'm also sorry about the surgery, but time heals all wounds. Hang in there, kiddo.

Oreneta: Truly is spelled, uh ... truly.

Ever the mother - even while rambling I manage to lecture!

dorky dad:
You? Dorky Dad? Stumped on a topic such as bird poop? Hard to believe.

(And while the move wasn't so traumatic - the whole damn thing is definitely testing my mettle...)

Well, now you've got me searching the internet for the bird poop question. Here's what I found:

"Unlike mammals, birds don't urinate. Their kidneys extract nitrogenous wastes from the bloodstream, but instead of excreting it as urea dissolved in urine as we do, they excrete it in the form of uric acid. Uric acid has a very low solubility in water, so it emerges as a white paste. This material, as well as the output of the intestines, emerges from the bird's cloaca. The cloaca is a multi-purpose hole for birds: their wastes come out of it, they have sex by putting their cloacas together, and females lay eggs out of it."

Sorry the soon-to-be-ex has moved out – but it does mean that things are moving forward, and the new chapter in your life is beginning. Once things have settled and you're feeling in top shape, the world is your oyster, kiddo!

And by the way, you do know that having a bird poop on you is good luck, right? Embrace the poop!

Beth, just think of it this way:

The bird poop has left the building!!

Hugs to you

Google, my dear, good old Google!

myutopia:
Glad you like it!

patricia;
How mature is this? I'm giggling at the word "cloaca."
Thanks for doing the research for me!
And, yes, things are moving forward (not as fast as I'd like, but still...) and my new "chapter" will begin. (Mmm...I guess it already has.)

mike:
Quite the original way of combining two of my "ramblings."
Thanks for the hug!
