The Graduate

Photos – as requested!

It was a marvelous day – lots of emotions in play, the primary one being incredible pride.

When you see your child achieve such a goal, you know you’ve done something right. You also realize how much the achievement is actually his and his alone. He possessed the brains, determination and discipline to get to this place in his life.

Parents guide and hope. Children take it from there.

And by the way, I didn’t cry - came close, but didn’t. I was too busy smiling my fool head off.

This kid of mine is a character - has chutzpah in spades. (Wonder where he got that from?) It was an incredibly hot day and in those robes, he was sweltering. After the ceremony, pictures, etc., we headed for the car.

No hesitation – he whipped off his pants in the parking lot and changed into shorts to the delight of those passing by. He didn’t even bother being discreet about it. (Good thing boxer shorts sort of look like shorts.)

That’s my boy! Confidence and a devil may care attitude.

He’s come this far in life – those qualities and all the other marvelous ones he possesses will take him even farther.

God speed and God bless.

I love you, Teds.

What a handsome fellow! No wonder you are a proud momma...

Changing his pants out in the open is something my oldest would do too. Funny boys.

do kids even know how much they owe their parents for their accomplishments? i never did, but maybe that's because of my parents' modesties. i owe them that too.

Congrats to your son (and you)! I went to a friend's convocation last week and couldn't help but smile at the enthusiasm of the parents in the audience. It really is an accomplishment for the whole family. Families that arrived at the convocation together were waving frantically to locate each other in the concert hall. Partly I was wondering, are you really that excited to see someone you just saw 15 minutes ago, but I think it's more of a "here I am to witness this moment!"

Ted you look so grown up and mature! Who would have thought?? I may not see you as often but I am just as proud of you as your "second Mom" on to bigger and even better things....
