Me. In the morning.
Bed head, robe, wool socks, cup of coffee.
I drew this all by myself. (No sh*t, Sherlock.)
I can’t (or won’t) tell you how many sketches I did before coming up with this one. Yes, you’re looking at my best effort.
My progress since kindergarten? I’ve learned to flesh out my “stick” people and to never, ever attempt realistic eyes, noses or mouths.
(Eat your heart out, Patricia….)
And, no, I haven’t lost my mind. Just having some fun!

She's adorable!
Stick people aren't to be underestimated. They are works of art done in the minimalist style like Henri Matisse did. His figures are just fleshed out stick people with no facial features. Fun is a good thing :)
I LOVE it! She really is adorable.
And yes, never underestimate the power of 'stick people'. A few simple lines can often express more emotion than the most detailed etching. Another good example I can think of is Picasso, and some of his amazing line drawings.
You've inspired me! I'm going to do a quick sketch of myself, too!
I came here via Patricia's blog...and I can't stop laughing at your post! Don't get me wrong...I'm not laughing AT your artwork, I'm laughing with it...well..maybe I am laughing at it-but in a good way. Your commentary was the icing on the cake! Thanks for endorphins!
That's great...I wish I had a scanner, I could throw one in of me. Stick people, slightly fleshed out are the best. Just went and saw Miro, he didn't even have stick people.
It's fabulous!!! And you know pretty accurate.

I don't know what possessed me, but it was fun to do. I certainly shouldn't underestimate stick people, but you haven't seen mine!
patricia:
So, what I'm hearing from you and Trish is that if I did go with my stick people, I'd be right up there with Matisse and Picasso. Right?
Post the sketch you do of yourself - I'm going to check.
sandra:
Hey, it was posted to be laughed at! Glad to be of service re: the endorphins.
oreneta:
Scanners are great. Just think, without one I couldn't have displayed my artwork to the blog world!
lynn:
Well, I did try my best but, "accurate?" That's kind of scary.
That is so cute! Do more, do more.
guy: Just "cute?" Not, "artistic" or "fabulous?"
As for the "do more" - you have got to be kidding. It took me forever to achieve this level of artistry.
Found you through Booklust. I LOVE your self-portrait! It's so adorable.
everyone needs to have a little fun every now and then....I think she's pretty cute, in her robe and bed head!!
beth: Bed head and cute. Hmmm. Maybe I should point out that most mornings I do get dressed and at least try to get rid of that crazy hair sticking up.
But the wool socks...love 'em!
inkygirl: Thanks!
I'm hearing "cute" "adorable" - perhaps a new career??
Nah, I peaked with the self-portrait. It could only be a downward spiral after this masterpiece..
That tops anything i could ever draw and I've been a graphic designer for almost a decade!
actually, there IS an uncanny likeness!! I would recognize that figure anywhere!! Robe in the morning and early evening right?? TRADITION
sornie: You have got to be kidding. You know, all these nice comments make me think people believe I meant to do a funny drawing. I'll grant you it is amusing, but in all honesty, it's the best I'm capable of!
#2 robe lover: Hey, you - don't give all our secrets away. I'll have you know I am still fully dressed - no robe yet...(I'm watching the Leaf game and they're LOSING!!)
I think that's excellent. I think you should use that on your blog somewhere. It deserves a permanent place!
dorky dad: Oh, it's got a permanent place (or as permanent as one gets with Blogger) - in the archives. I couldn't bear to look at it every day.
I like the hair. :)
moe: Ah, but would you want hair like that? I think not.
