Go, Colts, Go!

Who am I kidding? I have no idea which team to root for in today’s Super Bowl.

In fact, I just got up to check the newspaper to see if Super Bowl was spelt as one word or two.

I have no interest in football. I don’t watch Canada’s Grey Cup Championship game either. (And grey is spelt correctly — it’s the Canadian way.)

But I do know which teams are playing: the Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Bears.

And I know that last year 98 million people tuned in to watch the Super Bowl Game.

And being a hockey fanatic (whose home team has not won the Stanley Cup since 1967 — sigh) I can relate to the excitement generated by today’s game.

All you football fans — have a fabulous Super Bowl Sunday.

Party hearty and have great time!

Neither hub nor I are sports fans so we hardly ever watch football or hockey (I know, sorry!) We are a huge embarrasment to our sons...

trish: If that's the only thing you embarrass your kids about, you're doing just fine!

Is it foot ball or basket ball?

Oh no...I assure you were are an embarrassment in other areas as well LOL

We are chronically "un-hip"

guy: Guess I know what you won't be doing today. Welcome to our world (and Trish's world.)

trish: I don't think hip parents wear well in the long run - although they're good for a few laughs.

Man, last year was the BEST when the Steelers won! This year, their team just fell apart.

Sigh.

Still, you gotta be pulling for Tony Dungy after the year he's had.

mof3: I forgot you were a Steelers fan. Tough, sad year for you...but an even tougher year (YEARS!) for me as a Leaf fan. I'm hoping they get their act together before I'm too old to jump up from the couch to cheer...

Amen to the pic of Maxine and her version of a Super Bowl.........I didn't even know who the teams were until about half an hour ago, but I've decided to root for Chicago. Reason? I have none. But since I'll be watching it with the resident couch potato, I may as well have some fun with it! And what a perfect excuse not to make dinner - the rest of the world is ordering in, so I think it's a must for us as well!

megan: Hmmm. I never thought of the ordering in aspect of the Super Bowl - but that still wouldn't get me to watch the game. Have fun with Couch Tater!

I married into a very religious family...religious about FOOTBALL!! Ugh. Actually, they're all crazy about all sports, but football (and the SuperBowl) is the worst with them. Honestly, it's like marrying into a differnt nationality – I feel so confused (and bored!) when they start talking football language. This weekend my husband is at his one brother's house in Ajax, and there will be an endless supply of beer and chips and homemade chili (an annual ritual). And there will be cheering and comparing stats and paying money for the family football pool.

Me? I'm having a GREAT weekend. I stayed home! Lots of quiet, reading, coffee, classical music...yeah...I LOVE football!!

patricia: I just responded to your comment on the Groundhog post - and mentioned the Super Bowl there - wondered if you were watching.
I have my answer! What a brilliant girl you are!
BUT - don't you ever have to take a turn and host it for the fanatical football family?

Ha ha ha... Hopefully NEVER. You know how to avoid that? Be sure to own a very small, very low-tech TV. And then....end your cable with Rogers!!! Bwa ha ha ha ha....

Seriously, we're not really big TV people, so a while back we said au revoir to Rogers and their ridiculous prices and just bought an antenna for 30 bucks. We get the basic Canadian channels which is fine with me. (Though I really do miss channel 17 in Buffalo. If I bend the antenna at a cerain angle and then stand on my head, I can sort of see it...But Charlie Rose looks so funny!)

Back to the family...they all have extra sports cable and satellites and much bigger houses than us, so I think we're off the hook with THAT family gathering. But seriously, it's a whole weekend ritual with them -- my husband will totally forget I exist, and he will just talk to his brothers and sister and sister-in-law about players and injuries and play video football games with his nephews and drink his stupid face off. I love my husband dearly, but he becomes a different animal when SuperBowl comes to town.

Ok, enough kvetching!

patricia: Such a smart move, oh wise one. No big-ass TV - no sports crowd!
I just keep on learning from you...
City Pulse TV did a thing on how many honkin' plasma TVs were sold for the Super Bowl. Geez.

I had a fabulous Super Bowl Sunday. I'm FULL.

That's a super Superbowl Sunday to me.

dorky dad: Glad you had a super SBS. Good thing it only comes once a year - or do you stuff yourself at every championship game for every sport?

If I am not as tired as I was last night I may have watched the commercials during the Super Bowl, they are always very funny.

coffee mom: And we Canadians didn't even get to see the "good" commercials! Like K.Federline, etc.
Poor us. ;-)
