Belong To Me - Marisa de los Santos

Belong To Me – Marisa de los Santos

“What are we going to do?” As soon as I said it, I understood its power, this single, simple question… Everything turned on the word “we,” a synonym for love, the thing that saves us all.”

Recipe for a Great Book

Combine the Following Ingredients:

1. The characters of three unique, fascinating women and a brilliant teenaged boy portrayed in vivid and rich detail.

2. A plot that intertwines the lives of these characters with amazing twists and turns.

3. An author whose skill with the English language is a pleasure to behold.

4. Compassion and understanding of human nature with all its quirks and its capacity for love.

5. Themes of friendship, love (and first love), loss, betrayal, trust and the meaning of family.

6. Serious and reflective passages with moments of engaging wit and humour.

Instructions:

Read it whenever you can (it’s one of those when-can-I-get-back-to-my-book novels) and when “done” – check out the author’s previous novel Love Walked In and watch for her next one.

Although it may be presumptuous of me, I believe the quotation above conveys the message of the novel. That sense of “we” is the very essence of living a life in which you feel you belong. And it is a synonym for love. Not just the love between a man and a woman but for the love we feel for others in our lives. This love, this sense of “we” enables us to feel connected. And that makes those tough times bearable and the good times more joyous.

I highly recommend Belong To Me as an engrossing, delightful read.

You are the most prolific reader I know! Sounds like a good book and the picture looks like our boot rack by our back door.
